General Discussion / Odyssey, the underappreciated flagship
« on: November 20, 2019, 07:52:43 PM »
With double plasma cannon and triple sabot pod, odyssey can shred any cruiser and below while also being mobile enough to chase down destroyers and still being relevant in capital v capital fights. With double lance, Odyssey loses its ability to quickly kill most cruisers but has longer range, less flux usage, and increased anti hull/anti armor burst potential. Double autopulse is the best for AI however, since it uses the least flux. For fighter bays, Xyphos (PD + Ion beam), Spark (insane pd), or Longbows (same PD as Xyphos but with Sabots instead of ion beams). In addition it has the BEST logistical profile of all the capital ships and comes with ECCM and Sensor hull mods for free. For the large missile, either Hurricane, or Locust (Squall is kinda useless when triple sabot pod + 2x Longbow + 2x plasma). It is just such a versatile efficient ship although it remains a player flagship as AI is not very good at exploiting its strengths. I left all the right side small energies empty and put burst pd on front and rear smalls

I would argue that a player piloted odyssey is stronger than a player piloted conquest because it is more durable, faster, and has fighter bays. Contrary to popular belief, the Odyssey is not a fragile one trick pony. It can hold its own against every single capital (except possibly Paragon). When flanking on the right side of the map, it can use plasma burn to ram away lighter ships. When flanking on the left side, it can accelerate to max speed, do a 180 so the broadside is facing left and the engines pointing forward, and dump broadsides into the side of ships in addition to being able to quickly reverse direction with plasma burn.

General Discussion / 600 speed drifting
« on: September 09, 2019, 02:35:00 PM »
I was having some fun with plasma burn on the shrike when I got sandwiched between a Paragon and a Apogee. I tried to plasma drive out but accidentally bounced off of the Paragon's shields and flamed out at 600+ speed. By the time engines were repaired I had drifted from one end of the tactical map to the other. Is this an intended feature?

Same thing happened to my XIV Legion. I burndrived into a friendly ship (also a Paragon) and drifted right in front of a Radiant

General Discussion / Bug?
« on: August 31, 2019, 12:13:57 PM »
I was going around destroying tri tach stations/star fortresses when I realized that the stations tachyon lances were barely scratching my shrikes shield (I was bored of piloting my Paragon). Is this a bug?
edit: I'm on easy mode (first playthrough) but 25% damage reduction doesn't account for it basically doing 0 flux
edit 2: not sure if this is a bug so not posting there

General Discussion / Raiding Culann
« on: August 30, 2019, 05:25:21 PM »
Is raiding Culann a must do if you have colonies and orbital works set up? I managed to grab an Astral BP, tach lance bp, and plasma cannon bp. What other major blueprints have I missed? (odyssey?)

General Discussion / Commissions.
« on: August 25, 2019, 03:37:08 PM »
I believe that commissions should be slightly reworked so that the faction who is actually commissioning you would require certain quota's of ships to kill (pirates/Luddic Path and factions they are at war with) in order to keep the commission. Otherwise commissions are basically free monthly income in addition to access to the military markets of the faction with minor inconveniences (admittedly I like to explore the fringes so I rarely have issues with hostilities). Also whenever hostilities occur between factions, I have never seen any invasion fleets attack the other faction and I would really like that to change so that their are more frequent large scale battles.
