My outbox is empty. There is no record of the messages I have sent which is slightly annoying but not really a big deal.

Modding / Terraforming

Limited terraforming already exist in the lore.

I find it absolutely warranted to add the ability to alter planetary effects by adding solar mirrors/shades to increase/decrease temperature for example

The problem is I have no idea how to go about doing this. I'll leave this thread here to share my idea while I go and research

I found a fairly promising colonization candidate, but there is a catch; the world is tiny, basically a moon.

How much does this matter in practical terms? Will there be a growth malus? Max pop limit?

Suggestions / Set ship AI behaviour on refit screen

It would be good if we could change a ships combat behaviour on the refit screen. I know that non-officered ships default to the ”steady” stance but some builds would be more effective if you could change the stance without assigning an officer to it.

General Discussion / Custom flags in 0.9

This question can probably only be answered by Alex but I’m leaving it here for theorycrafting/flag ideas.

Will there be a way for us to give the player faction it’s own flag without significant modding involved?
Are there required dimensions of the picture involved?
Is it possible to make it so that you only have to drop the flag(s) you want in a folder and the game loads it from there?

Also, I’m extremely hypes for player stations coming around, and I have been since 0.5. It would be great if we could have another blog post soon.

Lets list additional missions we'd like to see

-remnant station destruction mission
-remnant fleet bounties
-full system planet scanning
-more cargo mission (as it stands I find that survey missions absolutely dominate the mission boards)

any more suggestions?

Just tossing it up here that I would really really like to see some text adventures. Preferably while going tech mining in domain ruins.

I realize that writing them and applying code for results is a bit of work, but I think it could really add to the atmosphere of the game.

What is the point of survey missions from the buyers perspective?
I can understand ship scanning but when it comes to stuff like equipment caches why would anyone pay 100 000 credits for me to go out into the fringe and scan it, only for me to steal all the contents afterwards?
Are they trying to verify it's still there in case one of their own fleets run low on a trip? Because I'm going to take that stuff with me and/or scrap any ship I've come across.
It just feels like a giant waste of money from the buyers perspective imo

It would be more logical to use metal to repair hull and armor damage. It would also remove some of the ridiculous amounts of metal you salvage (and then hoard because I can't bear myself to waste stuff)

Giving away fuel for free when responding to distress calls doesn't give you a rep bonus with the independent, but another faction called "neutral"

I was fighting the remnant and deployed two wolves.

After the battle, in which neither of my ships took any damage other than shield hits, the aftermath report stated that I had lost 10 crew.

Why is this?

General Discussion / Buying ships from the black market

I'm aware that buying items from the black market could make you the target of a smuggling investigation as well as the market being destabilized, but is there a downside to buying ships from the black market?

There is of course the issue of some of the ships having d-mods but will buying ships from there affect the market or give you a faction rep loss?
