I finally managed to kill off the luddic battle-station that was sponsoring terrorists on my colony however I ran into a bug when I tried to salvage the debris field left behind. In the first screen I clicked asses the field and instead of progressing the game said “NullPointerException: null” and did not progress, after that both assess and exit did nothing forcing me to tab out and exit the game.

I was partway through a playthrough with SCY and have encountered some weird behaviour with my Corocotta (armoured):

Tartiflette said that his work was just a simple implementation of the vanilla system and I should report them to Alex so here I am (somewhat delayed due to Stellaris on humble). There were two main problems I encountered:

  • Shields on the parent ship did not protect armour modules from AOE damage, flash bombers and ships exploding both destroyed armour modules despite raised shields.
  • Destroyed armour modules inflicted crew casualties despite the fact that as far as I can find armour modules are unmanned (ten crew casualties per piece),
    - I noticed my Corocotta took damage after combat when it had lost armour modules but not taken damage itself which I assume is how I pay to repair armour but may be related to unexpected crew losses.

Suggestions / Dedicated vs improvised salvage and survey hull mods.

Mostly due to my annoyance at the fact that I can unlock the survey hull mod to put on the non-combat ships in my fleet but not the salvaging hull-mod (with a side order of annoyance at 10-25-30-40% salvaging bonus).

My suggestion is to split into two types of hull mod; dedicated/integrated only found built in to ships that provide the current or greater bonuses (please get read of that inconsistent 25%) and improvised hull mods that can be learnt through the appropriate level three skill or modspecs and installed on any ship that does not have the dedicated hull mod, but only providing half (?) the bonus of the dedicated hull mod.

A persistent bug I have been running in to but unable to find a cause for, sometimes I would be warned that "turning your transponder on now will reveal your hostile acts to the independents" despite never attacking any independents. I just encountered something similar with Nexerelin; I engaged a Persian league fleet and destroyed all but a few frigates, immediately after my faction declared peace with the Persian league and I immediately received at the same warning.

I believe that this happens when a specific fleet that is hostile to you, for example a pirate smuggler or Persian league that you have attacked, changes at their faction relationship towards you to friendly, for example of becoming a independent smuggler or your factions declaring peace, the individual fleet remains hostile and if they identify you again will update your faction relationships to hostile.

The game ran fine last week and I don't know what has changed since then. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I had re-downloaded some mods after reinstalling but they were all deactivated.

Bug Reports & Support / Torpedos spinning wildly

Prety much what it says in the title, I'll fire a torpedo at something and it decides it wants to spin in circles instead of going in a straight line. Observed primarily with guided atropos torpedoes but that’s probably because I’ve spent most of my time using them, I’m fairly sure I’ve seen it with unguided hammer torpedoes as well (if anything worse as they don’t have guidance to try to stop the spinning and hit something).

Off the top of my head I would suggest it occurs either when firing at point blank range or when the firing ship is moving perpendicular to the torpedo’s firing vector; I’ll try to remember get a screenshot when I next see it.

Suggestions / Venting with safety overrides lowers shields

Pretty much what it says in the title.

I've been playing with safety overrides a bit and I keep on finding myself trying to active vent, nothing happening and then taking half a second to realise I have safety overrides and can't active vent; given how quick passive venting usually is with safety overrides by the time I want to use active venting I only have the hard flux left that I can't get rid of with shields up. I imagine I will break this habit soon but it may be a nice quality of life improvement for attempting to active vent in a ship with safety overrides to lower sheilds.

I joined a friendly Tri-Tachyon nebula being engaged by a pirate thunder wing, the nebula(freighter, not terain) allowed the pirates to disengage without pursuit. when I choose to join the battle this simply prints the text "The Tri-Tachyon forces allow the pirate forces to go without further incident" and gives me the same menu except with the number to select Leave increased by one and a further Leave option with no number below it. Repeatedly choosing join the battle simply repeat this behaviour until the original leave option should become the number 10 when the number is replaced by null. There is no apparent limit on how many times this can be repeated. For example:

I assume this should be resolved in one of two ways; firstly my feet conducts a pursuit without assistance from the Tri-Tachyon forces, or secondly the pirate forces disengage, the menu is closed and the pirate fleet runs from mine in the fleet view.

Edit: Just thought to check, yes the additional leave buttons to function correctly.
Also I have lazyLib, ShaderLib, Simulator Overhaul, Version Checker, Common Radar and Autosave installed if that will affect anything.

Suggestions / Exiting a pursuit scenario

I've played my save all day nearly but have failed to achieve anything because for some reason or another the game has quit without saving, once to deleting a custom hull variant while it's still in use and once to a crash however the annoying ones are twice to accidentally quitting to main menu from a pursuit instead of allowing the remaining enemies to retreat unharmed (or whatever that says).

I know that this could be avoided by saving more often and reading things before pressing buttons but in my opinion as the enemy is already retreating the default option should be to allow the remaining ships to escape without problem and allow me to keep the wreck of any cargo ship I blew up (the number of barely escorted atlas' I see at command and control :)).

Another suggestion I've seen that would help would be to change iron mode to automatically save at regular intervals/conditions, possibly before moving to engage, at the end of any combat scenario (i.e. when you press leave) and exiting a station screen.

I just quit the mission for the greater lud and I believe I opened the refit screen when the game crashed, I cant remember what variants of ships I was using though.
