Modding / Conversion Mod

I was hoping to try a total conversion but have no idea how to remove all the ingame ships/planets and cargo so I can start adding things one at a time and I was wondering if anyone had or could do something similar. A mod to get rid of everything in game that I can then Drag and drop any files I need into the mod. 
I have no experience with removing things.  So far I can add ships, modified systems/weapons, hullmods.

I dont know if its just me but whenever I try to play 0.8 with the mods i've tried:
Lazylib
console commands
interstellar imperium
dassault mikoyan engineering.

"Fatal: Filenames are case-sennsitive,"  and then the location of the .jar file in the mod. This happens for all the above.

Modding / Hullmod Request

If anyone can help at all. I'm after a couple of hullmods:
*first, One that produces fuel by being in close proximity to a star.   (for a WIP stargate mod. For the destiny)
*second. A hullmod that can produce supplies, either a changeable fixed rate or one that scales depending on distance to a star. For a WIP battlestar mod. A food producing ship.
*also need assistance in adding them to a mod. I've no coding experience other than altering existing ships, weapons, and systems.

Modding / Fatal error

I tried to start the game earlier with my mods selected and it worked and I played a while. But I just tried and got this error.

Fatal:

Modding / Contoured shields.

Can anyone help me make a hullmod for a shield that will contour around the hull of a ship.
I'm wanting to add a shield like this to an aurora class battleship for my stargate mod because as it is quite a large, long ship. A round shield doesn't fit especially in engagements.
I have little/no coding experience so need help.
The shield will have to use co-ordinates similar to the boundaries of the ship.

We are collaborating on a Stargate mod using sprites from both of our mods that we are working on. I hope to eventually have a total conversion so that no vanilla ships are left in game and will try to add new features too including replacing the flux bar with a depleting shield bar. If anyone can help with that we would be very grateful.

Modding / Gimp Problems

I'm currently having a problem using gimp to create sprites, I have tried opening other sprites but when on the paintbrush or pencil tools, I can't click on any pixels and change colour or anything. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing it to no avail and I can't do any spriting till it works unless anyone else knows of any similar programs.
My screen shows my cursor and a little picture of a pencil but i cannot draw anything. even on new drawing or loaded ones. does anyone know how to fix this

Modding / making a ship with a phase cloak.

do i need to make a glow for the phasecloak and if so how?
and also is it possible to have shields and a phase cloak?

Modding / custom weapons in ship maker.

for those making custom weapons even if its a modified weapon.
if you want to add it to a variant in the shipmaker then you need to place the data and relevant files in the starsector core files for it to appear

Modding / custom ships and mod problems

i am having trouble making a fighter wing and equipping built in weapons on my ships and fighters.
also i have tried making my own mod just with missions for the time being till i can mod a campaign but when i test my mission with my ship. most weapons miss my ship as if they just pass through it. i have set the boundaries up properly and the shield but sometimes missiles pass though the front of it too.
also when i make all the weapons hidden because in game it is quite small i always end up with one that isn't hidden.

i posted a screenshot if anyone has any ideas how to fix it.

bc-303 cruiser    prometheus
bc-304 capital ship (battlecarrier) has two flight decks.

battlestar ships too. im not too familiar with them but some look cool. maybe have stargate and battlestar ships as the same faction.

Suggestions / multi point projected shields.

since shields are projected from the ships how about having them projected from multiple points on a ship so the ships are surrounded quicker. this could then also lead to sectional shields so that a certain area of the shield could collapse and then other shields could be stretched but it would weaken them.
