General Discussion / Happiness is...
« on: February 20, 2016, 07:56:29 PM »
1 Shade and 4 Wolf!  ;D

i fly the Shade of course, with 5 tactical or Trishkula Lasers.
Wolfs all with 1 Graviton Beam and 3 Tactical lasers.

in a fight i can tell all 4 Wolf to escort me.
or just 1, and the other 2 escort the other Wolf, so to have two different point of attacks

fun, fast, flexible, cheap.
very profitable!

i go from system to system.
hunting down bounties, Pirates and Ludic Path freaks!

General Discussion / This game is no good!
« on: February 13, 2016, 05:58:58 AM »
i probably have been playing hundreds of hours already.

there's something i really don't like about this game but i can't just figure it out for now.
maybe i can figure it out in a few more hundreds hours of game time.

oh. wait, just got a message:
"The Independent are offering bounties in the Terminus system. Rewards start at 2400 CR for a frigate."

ok well, duty calls!  lol   ;D

General Discussion / mod to handle saved games?
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:09:00 AM »
i know i can copy the "saves" game folder, but is there a mod out there to manage saved games?

that would be more convenient than exiting the game and copy and paste the folder to the desktop.  ;)

i was wondering what good mods are out there that are close to vanilla...

General Discussion / too much supplies/money
« on: July 09, 2014, 05:57:49 AM »
there is way too much supplies you get from fighting a battle.

the result is the game is virtually won before I reach level 5.
i'm still at level 4 and I have 1 cruiser and 3 destroyers.

the progression should be much slower.

Suggestions / need randomization of starting location for ennemy
« on: September 28, 2013, 06:22:23 AM »
for example, if i fight a Hound and a Piranha, the Hound will always start at the left side, the Piranha on the right.

it would be nice if this was randomized.

General Discussion / a few tips for Shade pilots
« on: August 07, 2012, 04:28:47 AM »
* don't stray too far from your main fleet.
the enemy has a very high bounty on your head!  ;)

* slow down your main fleet by having your destroyers on Full Escort for your Cruiser or Capital Ship.
the slower your whole fleet moves the easier it is for you to support them on the flanks.

* always un-phase behind the enemy. (exceptions would be maybe Hounds and Talons but you die quick if you're not careful flying the Shade)
one hit from a AM Blaster and you're space dust.  ;D

* use the zero-flux speed boost to get to top speed, aim for behind a ship, phase and coast at top speed.
un-phase and zap them!  :)
---------
i tried a few different weapons set-up but here what works best for me:

* 1 Tactical Laser in Group 1 in the forward facing turret, NOT on auto-fire (otherwise the missile auto-targeting won't work in Group 2).
* 2 Tac Lasers in Group 2 in the 2 other turrets, these ones on auto-fire.
* the 2 fixed hard-points are kept empty to get more hull mods.

Hull Mods:
* Point Defense A.I. for the Tac Lasers (for targeting missiles which are a pain for a Shade pilot)
* Flux Conduit
* Optics
* and Turret Gyros (to counter the nerf of Optics)

this setup makes it easier to fight from a medium to long range, then close-in with the Zapper when you have a chance.
do not zap your teammates, they don't like it.  ;)

* 8 points in the Flux 'reservoir'
* 9 points in the Flux venting
------
* you can fly though asteroids while cloaked.
you can use that to your advantage, to evade enemies and shield you from missiles.

General Discussion / my "Dream Team"
« on: July 30, 2012, 11:03:42 AM »
all from the Tach faction.

one Apogee or a capital ship carrier, the Paragon if i get lucky.
escorted by 2 Medusas.

i fly the Hyperion escorted by a Tempest.

none of these ships have missiles installed, which allows me to to enhance their energy weapon load-out.
i favor long range so at the beginning of the game it means mostly Graviton Beams, then High Intensity Lasers later on for the bigger ships.

me and the Tempest provide support in the back to take care of fighters at the beginning of the fight.
then, it's off hunting.

the speed of the Hyperion and Tempest allows me to conduct strikes behind enemy lines as the fight progress.

the most fun i had is when the enemy steals my beacons at the beginning of the fight.
i go steal theirs and some of these fights were awesome as we were trading Nav beacons and such.

in the end, their broken hulls glisten like so many jewels in the dark of space.
we all get to the bars on Corvus II and trade war stories around a pint of Klingon ale.  ;D
