Suggestions / Mine Ship

Too often in my strategies I am engaged with a ship of the line on one side of the map and all the freighters I'm attacking run down the opposite side and escape or I become flanked.

I suggest a ship that can deploy a minefield of sorts as an area denial weapon.

Or maybe not even mines, maybe a science type vessel that's support role deploys some form of sensor buoy.

Bug Reports & Support / FPS droppage

I've come across a pretty interesting issue. I'm still trying to figure out if it's an issue on my end, but the game has run pretty well thus far so I doubt it.

I've put 4 Tachyon Lances on my paragon and they're all set to weapon slot one. Whenever I have this weapon set active my FPS tanks. It drops from about 60+ FPS to 9 according to the ingame FPS meter.

As soon as I switch from this weapon set to number 2 it clears up nearly instantly. I don't know if it's a matter of my computer not liking that weapon-set or the game getting bogged down on something.

Thoughts?

Edit: I have not seen if my FPS tanks while allowing an AI to pilot the ship. I'll try later today.

General Discussion / Tachyon Beam

I have the requisite plundering and have acquired four of these buggers and (needless to say placed them on ships appropriately. Now heres the question. How to best utilize this weapon. When I set a target all I have is that vector line on my screen but often when I change to the camera of a fighter in the area I find that I've missed my mark horrible. What do you all do when you want to land the big hits with this weapon.

General Discussion / Odyssey Class Build

I'm looking for a decent build for the Odyssey. I recently captured one (it was a tough choice to keep it since it killed my medusa class before I could close in on it. As it stands I don't feel like I have it built for a purpose. What I'm thinking is that, since it has two left firing large energy spots that I should probably turn it into a broadsiding killing machine. But I need an idea for what weapon systems to go hunting for. Thanks.

General Discussion / So now what?

So first off I want to make it clear that I love this game. I watched TB's WTF is? and I had to have it.

I started off with a Lasher class and loved the energy based weapons it came with.

So I grinded my way through pirate fleets and now I'm rocking a fleet which consists of a Enforcer class cruiser and (I think, I don't have the game open currently) 3 frigates and 2 carriers with some fighters.

Needless to say I crush pretty much everything.

I open the map and I zoom as fast as my slow fleet will go to try and get the pirates before the hegemony or other faction kills them but often as not I can't get there in time. Everyone else pretty much flies away from me.

So my big question is, what do I do now? There are no more really big hostile fleets left and my money generation has gone down. What do you all think?
