Suggestions / Simulator Overhaul - Asteroid dencity ajustment?

Reading the blog about the simulator overhaul got me thinking. sometimes im testing out new builds for my ships only for the AI to shoot all their missles into an asteroid. I get that this also happens in "real" combat but a toggle (or a slider with: none, normal and arteroid beld) would be a nice thing to have. although i dont know how easy this would be code wise.
