Great mod! Though on higher resolutions hexes rend to be still barely distinguishable. Is there a possibility for bigger hexes option (maybe as a different mod version or something)?

I'd like that too, I have to really zoom in to see the hexes and then I'm blind to the actual battle :)

If I'm not mistaken level 35 is when we would be able to grab every skill in the game right?

Would it be possible to get a level 35 variant? or can i edit a level 30/40 variant to stop at 35?

Going beyond 35 seems pointless, as far as I understand it once you hit max level any addition xp goes towards addition story points, no need for any added skill points?

Found the config file, changed it to 35 on the standard variant and judging by the script, that seems to be roughly equal to xp needed at level 30 on rapid variant?

Does anyone know why this happens to some people and not others? I've never had it happen and while I don't play with heavy mods, I do with like a dozen plus libraries at times. I don't use graphicslib except when I have to for a faction and in that case I switch its shaders etc off.

iirc it only happens when you're running with glib shaders enabled because it loads so many extra sprites that the java 7 garbage collector kinda chokes and dies on them
you can temporarily stop the slowdown by using the "toggle shaders" hotkey in graphicslib, but it'll just come back when you turn them back on

I've updated to Java 8, and while it has absolutely improved, a long session will still gradually slow down more and more still, but instead of having to restart every 10-30 min (depending on combat) I can play fine for a couple hours before its even noticably below 60 fps.

So I'd say it's more or less fixed.

Thank you, I will try that, I have downloaded Java 8 on my computer, but I guess Starsector uses its own Java regardless.

When I first load up the game its rock solid at 60 FPS and 57-65% Idle.

But somehow after a very large and extended battle, the game slows to 17 FPS and 0% Idle.

If I save the game, restart and load back in, its right back up to 60 FPS and 57-65% Idle, until a little while and a large fight again.
(large fight being my 2 carriers vs 5-10 ships)

Is this a memory leak or whats going on? I can't really see anything in the logs.

Could it be a mod that is causing it?

Java definitely can use more than 6GB, so...

My recommendation would be to switch to Java 8 if you can.

How quickly does the game start complaining about being out of memory?
If I set it higher than 8, it complained as soon as I loaded in.

When I set it down to 8, game was running fine till one moment it wasn't.

So I need to update Java? That could be a thing..

Apparently I had Java 8 v261 or similar installed (up to date is Java 8 v311) so hopefully that will help! and I will set the ram higher again

Hey, I know this out of memory topic has been brought up before, but I haven't come across is when Java already has 8gb allocated.

I tried allocating 20gb, but then the game complains that 8gb is the maximum or performance will be deteriorated..

My ram sticks are 16gb each.

Am I running into a memory leak from a mod, am I simply using too many large mods for java to handle? or is it something else?

It's probably your Internet Provider that have a problem.

I found the issue, Amazon is refusing my connection due to being behind a VPN. They are serious about tracking folks it seems.

So, *** that ***.

(I use NordVPN, so not a unknown service either, and I'm in my own country, not trying to cross borders via VPN either)
