Mods / Re: [0.96a] Red - the Oculian Armada (0.10.0-RC1) Mod
« on: December 07, 2023, 08:33:02 PM »
I may be asking in the wrong mod thread, but didn't Red used to have a utterly obscene monster of a supercapital in its roster? I'm fairly sure it was apart of this mod ages ago.

I know it is quite late of an answer, but being one of the people that actually hated loved the pointless big ass and kind of buggy ship, I feel ya. It has been a long while since it has been removed. If you want that  monstrosity back in your game, you could check Spaceport Corvus channel in discord and search for Ophiuchus.

I'm still waiting this mod to get updated to start playing starsector again. the vanilla and other mods ships are so boring to me. I miss the Neutrino full armor without shields ships. is there any way I can turn my game back to 0.9.1 version?

You could just get 0.9.1a from the Releases, but you would need every other mod to be for 0.9.1a too.

Why is it version checker is telling me that there is a "v0.9.8a" version when the latest available is v0.9.7c?
Anyone have an idea?

A bit late of a reply, but if you check straight into the downloads of King_Alfonzo's Bitbucket, you will see there is a 0.9.8a version, released on 18/12/2021. It is a 0.95.1a version.

This is a bit off topic, but is there now a hidden Captain Planet in the modpack?
PS: Do ignore the comment if it makes no sense.

Mods / Re: [0.7.2a] Exigency v0.7.2 - Updated 3/19/17
« on: April 07, 2020, 03:04:57 PM »
If you would like exigency for the older 0.7.2 version of the mod and if you do not mind, I could send you the one I have saved in my files Drazan. Just keep in mind Mesotronik has taken down the file, so he does not support it anymore.

Bannerlord team has it tougher though, as they have reached to a point that the money they have gained through the original M&B, will "soon" get depleted. I do not act like I understand how their financial works, as much as I just remember reading a thread and a lot of people talking about it. They have to finish it within the upcoming years, be it they sell it complete or in alpha stage. They do not seem have much choice.

-Edit 3- Welp, the simplest solution to every piece of software, actually worked. Uninstalled and re-installed the main game and no more errors received. No idea what went wrong as I had the latest version before and I never update from older versions, only uninstalled and reinstall the newer one. Well either well all is well.

-Edit 2- Ok, I finally narrowed it down to Nexerelin. I did not know it had Version Checker integrated. Even when running Nexerelin alone, I still get the same spammed error. I am not saying it is Nexerelin's fault. If either Nexerelin or Version Checker are active, the spammed error happens.

-Edit- Ok. I turned off Version Checker (in a new game) and I still get the same error. I am guessing Version Checker itself is not the problem?..

After the game loads, Version Checker will start spamming rapidly an error. The game is new. I am not loading an older game.

No matter how it looks, I think what should win everyone is MesoTronik's reason that is trying to make the sprites match the vanilla ones. Even if they look less "cool", to me it seems like this is done for the sake of realism. I personally like how the Shouren seems to have armored up visually =D

To me, this game's "end" will come only after the modding community will become dry. Even if 0.9 would be the last release (God forbid) and eventually modders would too come to complete their mods, I will still in the future pick this game up and play, as I have been since I found it.

Sadly here patience can make people see the delay of a full (or beta) release as something good or something bad. Although admittedly anyone that is still aboard the ship, must be in one or another way enjoying the ride, even if it is the hope to see it complete. I myself am on the side of people that feel that my money have more than being paid for, thanks to the continues updates of the game and the team that give their time for it, as much as all the modders that selflessly from my perspective have been contributing greatly in how wonderful the game has been at any version I have played it. They for sure have every right to hope for a final release of the game, so they can come to a conclusion that will know will remain viable for users to come.

Personally the previous year I booted up 0.6.5.2, only so I could enjoy some specific mods. To me, older versions (back to 0.5.4.1a at least) just register in my mind as a different game mode, simpler and/or easier.

As a final thought you, when I saw 0.9a patch notes up in the news, first thing that passed through my mind was "so close". That to me translated as Starsector is soon to be a final step away, from what Alex always wanted it to be, as a base game at least. I bought the game fully prepared that it might never reach a complete 1.0 release (thanks to my experience with Steam), but here I am now thinking I am definitely getting the complete Starsector.

Bless Alex, the people that help him and all the modders, along with the whole community that helps in their way.

General Discussion / Re: Just wanted to say this game is great
« on: July 14, 2018, 03:58:22 AM »
I really can't believe myself how much I got into this game. I got into it when I tried it, loved it and went out of my way to buy it, even if normally I do not buy alpha games and Starsector is the only non Steam/physical game I own. From 0.6.2a I tried at my friend and then buying it and having it home, I have came back to the game and played it numerous times. In my perspective, every version feels complete (be it vanilla or modded). It just always feels like a different game, kind of.

I blame my friend for showing this to me, resulting with me getting so addicted to it, enough to still be returning to it.

!!! That's awesome news, thank you so much for testing! Sorry about your impending lack of sleep :)

I should be the one thanking you for reaching out to help =) You are always welcome and always glad I can help in any way. As for the lack of sleep, Starsector is really worth it. Can't help getting absorbed and forgetting about time XD Thanks once more =)

Thanks for your kind words! And for the bug reports; everything duly noted.

About the flickering issue - hmm. So part of the problem is I can't reliably reproduce it on my system, and when it *does* happen, it's nowhere near as pronounced as, say, in Weltall's video. The most I've seen myself is a very intermittent flickering of an icon, or a bit of text getting brighter for a split second, or some such - and it doesn't happen at all on most runs of the game.

However, I've made a small tweak that could potentially resolve the issue. Would someone who runs into this on a more regular basis mind giving this build a whirl?

Had 4 battles and not one flicker. With the normal one I would constantly get flickering, so it really feels it was fixed. It is almost 3 am here and tomorrow I need to wake early, so I can't test further today, but obviously I will be playing testing more tomorrow. Thanks a lot Alex!

Here is a sample of the graphical glitches I am talking about.

https://youtu.be/7PK19hNap2w

It can be shapes like this one that to me they look like they get a texture stretched, or they can have solid colours. They happen all the time in battles, from one to multiple times, but I have seen them out of battles only 1-2 times.
