(Okay, keeping in mind that I respect general griping about waiting and the need to do it. But I think there's also an interesting question hidden in here.)

Imagine a world where Starsector was declared 1.0 a few years ago and the updates came out as DLCs; the "Paradox-style" release, if you like. I ask earnestly, is that a preferable product model?

I suppose another alternative is to declare 1.0 with a possibly rushed 'technically hit all the feature bullet-points', then update post-launch. I struggle to remember a game where this worked out well rather than fizzled, though maybe Brigador kinda did it and managed to turn a rough start around with a viral social media post? I don't think they even rushed their release though, and it is also a game working in a far less maximalist design space, eg. standalone arcade-style maps.
... Are there any examples of this? No Man's Sky? (But that was a publisher-backed project with millions in dev funding, wasn't it? Too big. Different beast.)

Another option: I'm loathe to compare Starsector to Dwarf Fortress because I don't think we think about Starsector the way Tarn/the Adams bros think about DF, but maybe the way the game updates relate to players feels similar? Would DF benefit from declaring a 1.0? Possibly their Steam release and UI update is a stealth-1.0, in the sense that that game state is declared 'provisionally definitive'. (Do people who play it agree? I have no idea, I haven't played DF in 15 years or so.)

Just because there is "worse" option, it does not make the other one "good one" ^^
And yeah seems I bought mine 2012. I do like how each update seems meaningful and Im not in hurry, but you know...

So these few things have been bugging me past patches

A) Galaxy map has right click to move, while flying right click is free look and left click is move, can we have them both use the same button please?!?
B) Some way to check your colonies inventory/ships without visiting them (stuff you left there)
C) When you discover ruins during survey, have pop up to explore them instead of having to leave the screen and hopefully remembering to investigate them (yeah sometimes exploring planets get boring and you spam)

Thanks for all the work on the game, its been slow but each patch is still meaningful so nice to return to it each time.

General Discussion / Re: Is this game dead?
« on: February 20, 2021, 01:37:44 AM »
Yes the updates take long time to arrive... No I dont like it, but not much that we can do. Sure would be happier if the game would progress faster.

I dont understand why someone would say its good to take over 10 years, but it just seems to be the way it is :/

Yeah the wait is often killing me, without mods it would be hopeless, but atleast there is progress and I dont feel like I over payed! Still checking weekly for new updates, so the game must be doing something right instead of making me give up! But for the love of god, I cant wait for ever ^_^

edit: paid 10.80e 2012 :S

When loading variant to your ship, it prefers to buy the needed weapons from the market instead of using your rented storage space items, requiring you to take the items from storage space before refitting.

no mods, just vanilla.

Bug Reports & Support / Re: Loading Save File Issue
« on: October 30, 2014, 02:07:57 PM »
exiting to menu and/or restarting the game fixes it. Just posted it here as it started to get too annoying (quick load was not all that quick) and hoping to get it fixed faster, will look into the vmparams.

Hi, yeah same issue here. Loading game get really slow, it slows down in the end of loading bar, and when it has been there for a while it crashes loading.

I did notice the flash starting to eat up lot of memory while loading, and it seems you already have all the info you need, but here is the save files and log just in case.
