I don't know if this was ever brought to your attention, but standard forum layout with white background really destroys the view of almost every sprite which doesn't have large black background. Probably there is a solution (except asking everyone to use authentic SS backgrounds from game files) already, al there is an easy way to make things better (for example, to add something like [blackbg]yourimageURL[blackbg/] which will add proportional background from the same SS files, or even have special button [sprite][sprite/]). Just a minor thing, but it also can be done pretty fast.

Next time should watch tutorials on how to draw forest masses better. Also this pseudo-hound can be quite a nice remake of vanilla hound, if its made into sprite.

Are you sure? Wacoms, especially intuos series are one of the most used by professionals. Though price is a bit high. Something like Genius has good enough specs and probably is sufficient for hobby usage. If I were in your shoes and didn't have to worry about budget, I would definitely go with intuos series (though you should research details, cause some ppl prefer series 4 over 5), and if I had really good budget, I would try and see if using Cintiq is easier than normal tablet. Yet again, some professionals still prefer to use normal tablet, like intuos 4, over Cintiq. Depends on how you draw.
But otherwise Genius F610 with 2048 sensitivity isn't that bad, and its really cheap. There are many other smaller brands with, as I heard, decent quality, but I didn't use them myself so I can't recommend much.

kazi, try to not add colors, detailed shading before you have satisfying shape/linework. If shape, major lines are good, everything else will be better. Also try to rotate a bit your portrait, apply some lines to check if proportions are right, draw top-down, side views just to see if your decisions make sense in sense of 3d form.

xenoargh, will you add AA to outlines later or is it intentional that some lines are blocky? Always skipped this part in my own sprites, but now actually see that maybe it will be good thing if I learn how to do it, seeing how little blocky outline distracts from viewing your great sprite.

Did you enjoy "My little battleship: shipping is magic"?
First watch normal Ending (time 22:45) http://kissanime.com/Anime/Aoki-Hagane-no-Arpeggio-Ars-Nova/Episode-006?id=57672
Second watch TRUE Ending (time 22:45) http://kissanime.com/Anime/Aoki-Hagane-no-Arpeggio-Ars-Nova/Episode-007?id=58321

p.s. I couldn't find ED so my only option was to link some "animeonline" website.

Just a quick frigate based on reference picture(credits to author), tried to preserve original color, but forgot about it half way. And also added potential mounts.

Not sure what problems you have with spriting, considering in your "lore archive" I saw some pictures, so you should be familiar with drawing at least on some level, so I'll do it step by step.

I guess you are using SketchUP? Are you familiar with rendering stuff and different normal/specular/AO/etc. maps(I am not really familiar with it)?
If Yes, it should be fairly easy to render decent templates of your ships and lay final touches in photoshop or gimp.
If No, you can try asking advice from kazi or maybe some other modders who are familiar with 3d modeling.

Next, if you will manage to render decent templates (and maybe some normal, specular, etc. maps - though I don't really know what will be usefull for finishing sprites) from your 3d models, and if you still have troubles turning them into sprites of good enough qaulity, you can try uploading these template materials, and maybe 3d models, here. Of course asking people in community to help is good way to do it too(you can even look up some names in this thread http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=6264.0), but if you show us all the work you've done so far chances that someone willing to help appears are higher.

On a side note, while I can understand, and I think it is a good thing, that you have modeled your ships like a real 3d objects with details on every surface, in Starsector we are limited to top down view. So while creating interesting desings is a good thing, you have to think about these restrictions. No one will see cool stuff placed under and some stuff placed on the sides. And in the end you want players to be able to see cool stuff you came up with. I am not telling to desing completely onesided ships, but just try to make sure that in top down view ship's design is well-recognized.

Anyway, good luck with your mod.

Tried to make Fabre animation, but can't think of the way to animate whole body, including engines, so this is the only variant I came up with.

The main concern is that for most modders this will create a pretty big obstacle which will be difficult to overcome.

See this "SP" button near my mouse cursor? Thats where spoiler tag is. And don't forget to use tags for image, so your image will be shown as an image and not just link. Also I use imgur.com to host my pictures, it allows drag and drop of images and also generates tags automatically for every situation.

I was messing around with some ideas and made some quick concept.

And today I am presenting you cute little Fabre. And green.

It is a bionical spaceship, which uses experimental bioweapon. Mysterious bacteria were found in p-space. Cultivation of these bacterias was possible only in special cultivators specifically invented for this purpose. The most fascinating thing about these bacteria, apart of living in p-space, is that they defend themselves from danger with producing strong fluctuations in space.
Idea is that this cute frigate can  produce stronger version of EMP storms and lacks any other serious weapons. Though maybe it will be logical to give it some goo-shooting cannon, maybe.
