Ok, I tracked down a statement from a crewmember:

Quote
Our trailer shows a weapon test (https://vimeo.com/56660860P) which was meant to show that the entire ship is essentially one huge cannon. By removing the engine block and shooting out the back they can go super fast. As for slowing down, all they have to do is shoot out the front again, or use the smaller engines to turn themselves around and accelerate in the other direction (the reason to do this is they are using the shield in the back as a pusher plate, whereas in the front there would be nothing to absorb the impacts).
As for angry crew members, that would be something we would love to explore in a longer version. But alas it is a short and we tried to pack a lot in there!
Really happy to see people discussing it!

Which just confirms that those guys don't have a clue about physics and did not care much to make this believable, which is a really bad thing for scifi.

Tel me what's wrong about this, I didn't see the video but from what you quoted I don't see anything wrong science wise.

I don't know if that is a serious page or not.. A real death star?.....seriously? we can barely go to space and they want to build a death star in 1:1 scale, with absolutely no practical use whatsoever, and a cost that would require every penny on the planet earth. :-\

You know this isn't serious right?

Couldn't you just make a ship that had no engines and a 360 degree turret and set it to be a drone?

I think if Alex makes carriers more complex(Which has been suggested a lot, and alex seems to be pretty receptive towards the forum) the higher tier ones will be more valuable.

Pirates aren't exactly renowned for being all that unified. Plus if the money is good, they'd likely be willing to swindle you regardless
Even non-pirates did something like that in history.
The dutch people sold the spanish weapons which they used to conquer the netherlands.
what a good example of how we(dutch) appreciate money more than freedom.

"When we hang the capitalists, they will sell us the rope we use"

How important do you want the lore to be, and is it progressing along with the game?

What is the lore on infernium(or whatever it's called).

Has nothing to do with asteroids.
Didn't think so.

What is the lore on infernium(or whatever it's called). Frankly weapons on asteroids sound silly to me, but exploding asteroids would be pretty realistic and interesting

It's like every beam weapon ever, I don't see anything special about what OP is suggesting

Also IMO SGA is terrible

You mean floating weapon debris? I don't see this making much sense.

I'd be cool, although I don't think there are enough ships to make something significant.
