Wait, I've only played a bit in the current version but do officers really not spawn with industry/logistics skills? Come to think of it I've only ever seen them with combat/energy/tech in my playthrough so far.

General Discussion / Hostile Activity with friendly Pirate relations

So how does this work? I'm currently "friendly" with the pirates but I'm getting upticks on hostile activity. Is there a certain friendly relation that I can reach with the pirates to stop that hostile activity from ticking up? Or is it just a perpetual thing that just happens because pirates gonna pirate?

General Discussion / Possible to run out of exploration missions?

Just a quick question - in my current playthrough I have explored probably 80% of the sector and have done a lot of salvaging of mining stations, research stations, etc. I was curious if at some point exploration missions will stop being generated after all of the planets in the sector have been surveyed or all of the probes salvaged? Is the game generating exploration mission targets with each new exploration mission or will I run out at some point?

Suggestions / Map should center itself on player fleet

Not sure if there is a particular reason for the map not centering on the player fleet, but it's a small thing that I would appreciate instead of having to manually adjust it every time I open it as I travel around.

Suggestions / "Derelict Survey Ship"-type exploration tags

Hi, loving the new update  :)

As you explore the sector and accumulate a bunch of exploration tags around the system indicating the presence of survey/mother ships, I find it difficult to remember which ones I've visited and which ones I haven't yet - would be great if the icon could change somehow to indicate that the survey ship is no longer there.

I also think of survey data as supplemental income. between derelicts, mining/reaearch stations, weapons caches, etc, I haven't had any trouble making money. But I make sure to line up some Galatia Academy or random survey missions first so that I have a primary payout.

For me the important part isn't to just get 1.0 out the door it's is there a clear goal in the gamestate to achieve 1.0 and are we making meaningful progress towards that goal?  For SS I feel like the answer to both questions is yes.  That is assuming the idea that once the story and its related features are complete the game will essentially be complete.  Every update we get feels like a substantial step towards that point.

If we are talking about this in terms of development the game I'd probably compare it to is 7 days to die.  Where this game feels like its making consistent progress towards an end goal that game has essentially just given up on the idea entirely and is just in a persistent "alpha" state.  Its been awhile since I played but most updates for that game don't even seem to add much anymore they more feel like the kind of maintenance updates you would expect to see in a post 1.0 release.

The rate of development on this game feels more like resource constraint rather than lack of direction, which is a good thing.  You can overcome resource constraint, it just takes a long time.

I'm not sure what reality you've been living in because I can't agree with a single point there..

The reality I live in is that a game I paid $15 for 11 years ago that was awesome back then is even better now with an amazing mod community and multiple substantial free updates over the years, and I'm totally fine with it as it is. Crazy!

So, I made an update to this mod for personal use, and its got everything working now except the custom dialog for just the factions in the rules.csv. (The dialog just uses game defaults for now, I can't find the problem there for the life of me, but that's a little off topic)

It's pretty stable and worth sharing.

However, I don't think I can pass it out without Mendonca's permission, so I'm asking here.

Apologies in advance for meddling in your mod

Apologies for the threadcromancy, just checking if you ever released this version? I'd love to play with it but I'm not sure Mendonca is around anymore.
