Sounds great, taking out carriers early on should be even more important.

The Omen has died once in one of these explosions as well! And it's been too close but just survived a few other times..

I believe the lashers were activating their ability at the time as well.  It might not be that but it's worth noting.

Apart from that the AI has been fine, I've noticed a large enemy fleet will surround my ships more effectively than before as well.

I've lost a number of lashers and wolves when they get too close to a destroyer just before it blows up. It's happened several times so far, twice when fighting the mule.

Not sure if it's necessarily a bug but it's a silly way to lose a lot of frigates.

It's almost as if Alex reads the forums.  :P

I'm sure it's actually a coincidence. It's a damn great topic for a blog post.

Looking forward to more options with music as that's something that I want to work on for mods personally. A couple patches away actually gives me time to get to grips with music editing for this game..

I think it would be far too complicated to manage multiple systems on a ship. How would you swap between them and how the hell would you balance something like that?

Oh I fully understand that it may be a very long time before we see a finished game. This is the most interesting part for me, seeing the game develop over the years.

I'm extremely thankful for any scifi sandbox experience, it's been quite a while since Freelancer and the X series has never satisfied the same urges for me.

Well I've discovered how to export a couple second sample. 19 seconds to be exact. I'm currently seeing which samples would work well for a campaign theme and extending it to a few minutes so it doesn't loop too often.

What I would really like is the ability to set ambient themes and such but that'll be down the road. If anyone wants to give examples of what they would like from the music just let me know and I'll consider it for inspiration and such.

I must admit I played a lot of the latest build while I was supposed to be on holiday. The main problem at the moment is the lack of content when you've managed to max a fleet out which I'm fine with because I'll just start over and focus on other ships. Obviously a lot of other mechanics simply don't exist yet. I see ship systems as the last big change to combat and then maybe we'll get a hint of whats next?

Sure, give me a couple days to get to grips with it and I'll see what I can do. Better to find out than never know right?

Aye the software ain't exactly cheap and I doubt I could make good use of it really. Might be worth giving it a shot I guess.

Heh, if I had a decent set of programs... and a bit more talent I'd happily compose music for free.

In fact I quite liked the music done for the source mod NeoTokyo a few years ago. But that was done by a professional composer and was weirdly never used in the game..

When will we see multiple starsystems in play? Will it be this upcoming version, or a few ahead?

Is that some information you can disclose, alex, instead of the ordinary soon(TM) :D

I'm guessing the next update will be focused on ship systems since that'll impact combat in such a huge way.

But yeah multiple star systems is high up on my wish list as well as additional music.

Well I can nearly afford a War hawks frigate after about 5 battles.. So the prices are getting there.. It's only really a problem in the early game.

As far as suitable themed music for the campaign stuff I was thinking something a long the lines of what Endless Space has.

Oh and I can't wait till the Tholians get integrated because then the mod will probably best looking ships of any TC. No offence to other mods but I really love some of the designs in this TC so far.
