There are two games that come to mind where crew are a bit more than just a statistic:
-Between the Stars
-Star Traders: Frontiers

Both are available on Steam, and I've enjoyed them very much in Early Access. Been meaning to revisit them.

Unfortunately I didn't get much work done this last month.

Deep Deluge's backdrops aren't static. Actions can change the environment, which in turn may change player interaction - i.e. lighting up an area may result in new areas to explore.

Example: dropping a flare in a dark crevice:

Ever heard of "menacing earthworks"? It is a philosophy around creating a future-proof warning system against, for instance, nuclear waste.
So that future generations may recognise danger, long after the warning signs we take for granted have been forgotten.

I am going to integrate such designs into my environments, playing on human instincts instead of conventional signs of warning.
Here's an example. A deep area made up of rows of spikes that are supposed to generate a feeling of unease. Something you wouldn't want to explore.

Video showcasing my work on improving the quality of the game's (Deep Deluge) voice acting.
All the voices in this video are generated by one person, realised through editing software and an improved AI that I've invested in.

Oh, yeah, this is mainly just, "not dead yet", for the people who vaguely remember. The game's an increasingly-complex action roguelike; it's like Smash T.V. had a weird baby w/ Teleglitch and Diablo, kind of. I'm just about done with major systems and it has a fully-playable loop where you can go on a run into a dungeon, return and craft things and upgrade your character, etc.

Hey Xenoargh! Cool to see you're still working on your game. I like the visuals. That crab thing reminded me of an old favourite of mine:

Do you do all the artwork yourself?

I've enjoyed the Starcom: Nexus a lot. Looking forward to seeing where they take Starcom: Unknown Space.

I believe that the developer wanted to keep the modular ships from Nexus, but make them look a bit less "blocky" in a sequal. Looking good so far!

Exploring a wreckage - research sequence is still painfully slow, but this will be addressed in the future!

Looks great! The attention to detail is superb. To me, it manages to capture the warm tone of the original scene. I keep going back and forth between the original and your render.  :)

Another gameplay preview for Deep Deluge. Including base services (first half of the video) and a multi-phased creature attack (second half of the video), which is escapable with fast enough reaction time. In this video I was mostly sitting idle. The speed of the attack depends on the relative location of the "body parts" to the player. The different event parts can damage the player, and drag the player closer to the "final kill".

A new gameplay feature, allowing players to access an interactive database, where they can "ask" about certain words/phrases/terminology by actually typing in the querry, without selecting from pre-determined multiple choice options. Similar to MU-TH-UR 6000, the computer from Alien.

New gameplay video (sans commentary). I've improved on some of the effects, introduced some new concepts/ graphics/ icons, and rebuild some scripts from scratch (the latter being mostly under-the-hood stuff).

Current voice acting is all temporary and will be replaced eventually.
