TotalBiscuit got me as well
Starsector 0.97a is out! (02/02/24); New blog post: Save/Load UI, Autosave, Intel Map Markers, and More (04/10/24)
I thought I had found a good place for a first colony in a nice tundra planet with 100% hazard rating, adequate farmland, moderate ore deposits, common organics and 3 stable locations. Only 10 light years away from core. Only had to get rid of a pirate base.
Then I explore a red giant right next to it, at 7 light years
Planet 1
- Terran, 100%
- Bountiful farmland (+2 food)
- Sparse rare ore deposits (-1 transplutonic ore)
- Moderate ore deposits
- Plentiful organics (+2 organics)
- Low gravity
Planet 2
- Tundra, 100%
- Poor farmland (-1 food)
- Sparse ore deposits (-1 ore)
- Scattered ruins
- Common organics
Planet 3
- Water, 125%
- Poor farmland (-1 food)
- Moderate ore deposits
- Extensive ruins
- Abundant organics (+1 organics)
- Water-covered surface
- Pollution
There are also three usual cryovolcanic/toxic/rocky planets, and only one stable location.
Not too shabby, huh
The IBB dominus is crazy good at the role of cruiser/capital killer. You have to take into consideration that its main beam cannon does more damage the closer to the target you are. From 500-600 range It'll almost oneshot most cruisers if you get a full duration beam.
