Blog Posts / Re: Expanded Battles

Wow, that's an awesome feature ! Too bad there aren't delayed fleet reinforcements, it could add some dramatic situations. It doesn't seem so much harder to implement thought and totally worth it from a combat perspective. Maybe give a reinforcement delay bonus in the case of choosing to escape a battle, as the fleet manage to win time by taking evasive maneuvers. Or even delay bonus depending on the number of beacons captured, that way you could win a fight with an unsustainable strategy. Looking forward this update anyway !

Here is a battle I recorded that show me taking advantage of the AI deployment strategy. I clearly shouldn't have won, at least not without any loss.

Yes I think it would be convenient and logical that we could easily manage the supplies consumption. If for some reason I become stranded for supplies I don't want to have to mothball 2/3 of my fleet while they are still widely combat capable.

9 supplies/day for a wasp wing, ouch! That's more than for a dominator.

The Paragon is good with player bonuses. I can take on the Hegemony defense fleet alone with this.

General Discussion / Re: What's your fleet like?
« on: July 03, 2012, 06:51:26 AM »

My fleet is like dead. After a first battle where I had to leave a paragon escape deep in the hull, in the second encounter, I rammed the last of my surviving ship all guns firing in a spot where the paragon hadn't it's shield up resulting in a blinding last explosion that left no survivors. It was epic.

Mods / The Last Fight V1.01
« on: May 05, 2012, 05:44:47 AM »
This is just a little mod for those who have done all the challenge in the campaign and want something for their über fleet to chew on. (compatible for starfarer v0.52a)

Upon activating the mod and loading your savegame, all the factions of the system will ally together and form a massive fleet that want you dead once and for all. (The fleet spawn the next time the Trytachyon supply fleet would have)

To install the mod, simply unpack it in the mods folder and select it in the mod section at the starfarer launcher.

Don't use this mod on a new game unless you want it extra-hard ! :)

Laser ships are better but ballistic ships are just way more cost effective.

Destroy the first Tri-Tachyon resuply fleet.

On that ship it's just more effective to put all your points on one side and orientate it correctly in battle rather than split your guns. But when I do that the AI won't take advantage of it.

Here is that setup:

It's very lethal btw, you burst the shield with the needlers and you wreck the armor with the large missiles and the ship is still quite maneuverable for a capital ship.

Maybe there should be a mod that lower the rate of fire of guns but allow you to place them with a discount on points spent.

Why is that?

It's like you had to tell someone to draw something but through the phone, it would be easier if he was with you. So in the same way it's kind of easier to do a multiplayer on the same computer.

The easier multiplayer to implement is a split screen or dual screen multiplayer.

Suggestions / Slowdowns
« on: February 25, 2012, 01:23:03 AM »
My main computer must have some overclocking problems and so the game often crash. To remedy the problem I play it on a slower one and a fun side effect I found is that in large battles the games slow down and make the action more manageable.

I thought as the game already has a pause feature to help with the strategy, it could have a slowdown one to help with maneuvering in those action packed moments.
