I, for one, am really excited for this progression system to be implemented into the game. I think much of the fun in games is specializing in a certain type of skills, as it adds to roleplaying (which in turn adds a lot to replayability as well). In skyrim I made my early levels focus on archery because I wanted my character to be a sneaky Imperial (rogue) officer-type person; however, after you reach the point where you have every single skill tree all the way up to 100 the game becomes too easy and the roleplaying element is destroyed.
That said I can't wait to make a single ship fleet super fighter mercenary
P.S. I also think the synergy loop idea is really cool and innovative (at least I haven't seen a skill tree like it in any other game).
