This utility mod is pretty straightforward: it only replaces the vanilla rotary weapons' animations with (imo) smoother ones that spin-up and down progressively, and rotate faster when using Accelerated Ammo Feeder.

Additionally, the puny vanilla sound and muzzle flash of the Storm Needler have been changed. If you would rather keep the original sound, use this version of the mod (https://bitbucket.org/CodingTartiflette/torchships/downloads/URW_v1.41.7z)

Please note that this mods induce a small lag before the weapons start firing to accommodate the spin-up animation.

I like the Storm Needler one a lot :)
I have a preference for the Assault Chaingun myself, but the Heavy Needler comes close second.

I'm a huge fan of the little dark mark on the Storm Needler that only come around once/rev. Makes it really look like a rotating cannon instead of just a repeating pattern.

For the Thumper I would like something out near the end, like on the Chaingun (also love it) - it just seems odd to have the barrels unconnected like that.

All three animations have a small marker (red for the two others) but the Storm Needler rotate much slower than the two other and is much more visible. Also all turrets versions have the barrels disconnected like vanilla, only the hardpoint versions of the Assault Chaingun and the Strorm are long enough to accommodate a ring easily.

Sadly, the SS+ version won't have the marker: with all the normal-maps and material-maps it was a bit too many sprites to add.

Actually I just use a repeating normal map pattern; the main texture still has the full animation.

The Chaingun seems to have an issue when it is placed on a turret slot, where it's barrel looks a bit like the Thumper. It looks as intended on hardpoint slots. Also, in either case it seems to have the Thumper's windup and windup sound.

Yeah it's intended: the barrels are shorter when mounted on a turret like the vanilla one, and the tip ring didn't looked that great on it. Also I had to add a very short spin up delay before firing unlike the vanilla one that fires instantly, thus the sound.

Small update: URW is now compatible with Dark.Revenant's GraphicLib and also modifies a bit the Ion Pulser to add a spin-up and a spin-down like every other rotary weapons.

Small update to make the Thumper use the Audio Plus sound instead of overriding it back to the vanilla sound, plus a small fix for GraphicLib not using all the maps.

It's exactly the same, the weapon just fires more bullets per burst.

There is seem to be a problem with Ion Pulser. It won't shoot, just keep spinning. Disabled your mod fixed it.

I can confirm I'm still having a visual issue with the Ion Pulser. Once you run out of ammo you can keep clicking and it will spin and show a blue light without shooting. Not a big issue but still thought I'd report it.

Do we have to choose between fixed version checker and no-sound? If you update this for the next version of Ss, will you have a soundless version available then as well? I realize it's extra work to keep track of 2 versions but it would be nice to have the option of fixed VC in the no-sound version. That is if I'm understanding what the VC thing actually does.

Unfortunately this mod doesn't work now with the reworked ammo-based Storm Needler and needs the same fix that the Thumper recieved.
