Kitbashing vanilla ships isn't always simple: most of the combat ships are riddled with weapon mounts that make them hard to clean, produce sprites with far too many turrets, or incentive the overuse of the same little bits of texture across all modded ships. So here's my Kitbash quick-start collection: a batch of (mostly) weapon-less vanilla sprites. Some of them are simple cleanup close to the original, others have had a rather extensive reconstitution to fill the gaps. Obviously they are only to be used in the context of Starsector's modding as per the game's license.

Fantastic! Just what I needed! I'd love to see all of these ships here with no weapons AT ALL. That way, we can just add our own wherever :)

Where did the teal ships come from? I like that style and if it's a mod I'd like to find it.

The stations are almost all weapon mounts and little hull, it would be almost as much work as starting from scratch thus not really worthwhile.

also, maybe the shuttles/phase ships/tankers? some of them could be useful for details (like mercury) and ship base hulls (like gremlin) and it would be easier than a lot of other ships I'd assume
also trying my hand at mods and I'll be using mercury a lot heh

Hai! I used this resource a little for a personal project, so I figured I would pay it forward with a little bit of work to contribute. Here are two version of the Venture, one with only the top hardpoints removed, and one with all hardpoints gone. The second one kind of changes the structure a bit, but it does let you clip modules out to use for other ships.

The weaponless eradicator on the database has far more weathered plating than the vanilla one, so here's one with more conventional, clean plating:

That's from Seeker, but other than that everything is vanilla.
