Title: terraria frost moon event
Post by: conorano on December 21, 2013, 03:09:24 PM
so ehh, about a month or so ago me and some people on the forum here tried out the terraria pumpkin moon event. it was really fun (despite REALLY laggy) and we ended up with all good loot. now terraria's christmas update is here and with it is a new event, the frost moon. and its even harder then the pumpkin moon it seems XD. so i would like to know if there are any people interested in trying to beat it? anyone can come, if you don't have good gear i can give you some.

If It is like the pumpkin moon it doesn't matter when we summon it so long as we have the summoning items. I've gotten to wave 11 and so far all they've dropped is a hook (with lights on it).

I'd be interested in joining in too. I'm busy until christmas as well however.

I can help. Best thing is, I don't want any of the drops, since I got the last one this evening. ;D

Of course You did... How else it could be? >.> Somebody who builds mega high tower out of pure pearlsotne, adds incredible amount of traps and other stuff and builds arenas to fight with gigant pumpkins for sure did such trivial thing like defed all enemy waves from Frost Moon Event :P

Hah, on my own I reached, what was it, wave 12 or 13? No, no mortal soul can hope to reach wave 20 alone. I had kickass helpers.
Like you lot, back then, with our Pumpkin moon fun. ;D

Looking forward to it! Don't mind hosting as well. I can show you my upgraded xmas pit o' death. Shouldn't be laggier than last time. ;)

I am also hoping it will happen soon :) Best in Saturday or Sunday ;) And like Gotcha! I am GMT+1. Just tell when (according to GTM) and where I should join :D

How about I start a server this weekend? I get the feeling that nothing will ever come of this the longer we wait. ^_^'
I am available saturday and sunday, let's say... from 13:00 GMT (14:00 CET) to 01:00 (02:00 CET).

It'd be best if we'd be with 5 or more people though. If it's just 3 people we won't get to the final wave. (Unless one of you is packing nuclear warheads.)

Do not worry - it is not that we will play terraria whole two days, around o'clock :)

Alright, unless someone has better ideas, I'll be starting a server on saturday, 18:00 GMT (19:00 CET).
Be there or be square! ;D

I'll be using my own map, because it has helpful death pits. It also contains all of my loot, gathered over months of Terraria addiction. I'd appreciate it if no one robs me or destroys stuff. ;)
There'll be a bed/spawn point at every death pit, so you don't respawn near my house, thus not dragging any enemies with you that'll slaughter all the NPC's.
Buuut I'll be backing up my map anyway, just in case. :P

allright then, i will join in too  ;D it will probably end up with someone still fighting the thing when it's allready over again though XD

Yeah, lag will happen, especially in the last wave. But if we all stand on top of the pit we're fighting on, and just shoot shoot shoot, then we'll be fine.

I think. ;D

I may be able to convince one of my friends to help with frost moon. That'd bring our total to 5. On Sunday i'm going to be out most the day. I'm at GMT-7 so it may not be too problematic.

Glad you did manage to get in.

CopperCoyote is going to make an enemy's worst nightmare pit, in order to hopefully grab ourselves the last missing treasure. To be continued... ;D

Title: Re: terraria frost moon event
Post by: CopperCoyote on January 12, 2014, 01:20:33 AM
After i've finished the map at the earliest. It has a pit of doom, but it is also rigged up with teleporters so the enemies have an infinite hall way of death. It'll have 2 crab spawners for hearts too.
Spoiler
Only the small enemies are teleported so we can focus fire on the more dangerous and larger enemies. Who also have loot worth collecting
[close]

I estimate i'm about half way done. I have things i need to do tomorrow so probably Monday at the earliest. I need many more super dart traps to make the pit more doomy. So that may be the unknown time to push this into a 3 day endeavor.

Well, CopperCoyote has provided a new map with a weird looking constraption. (Is there a switch I'm not seeing, CopperCoyote? I can't seem to be able to activate the traps.)

Anyway, this means we can have another go at it! ;D

What about wednesday/tomorrow, 19:00 GMT, 20:00 CET?

Emm... Will You manage to build few hobbits homes, few pygmeis homes and one, or two museums until than so I can walk around and call You nuts a bit more? ;)
Anyway - I will gladly join :D

Title: Re: terraria frost moon event
Post by: CopperCoyote on January 14, 2014, 03:42:35 PM
I'm the one that made it so i'd be the nuts one. ;D I just used a fresh map, and there is a little NPC tenement like building to the right. It's still on easy mode. Of the easy mode NPCs i think it's still missing partygirl.

You can right click timers directly. I have the two top timers separate like that so i can stagger the dart shots. If two darts hit an enemy at the same time it only registers one hit, but if you have a little delay then both are counted. My version of the pit of doom doesn't have flame traps. They obliterate my framerate. Instead i have 24 super darts set up to be triggered in a wave from a rolling bolder. Your'e going to get hit by one when you activate it so keep that in mind.

The upper layer with all of the spikey ball and spear traps is covered with lava to prevent enemies from spawning there. I wanted them to spawn in the deadly area. Not on the traps themselves. At the ends of the hallways of death there are teleporters to send the weakest 3 enemy types back through the traps a second time. Sometimes it catches the tall goatmen and the pogo men to so that's handy. I'm aware the spear traps don't reach the ground or even the tall enemies. They're just there to ruin the helicopters' day. The crab spawners have spikey balls instead of lava so the enemies that can fly through solid walls will take damage too. They ignore lava just like solid walls.

The central spawn is also the center of the death contraption so you don't have to fiddle with beds at all. It is also one block thick to exploit the fact the the needles spell can shoot through thin walls. The top layer has staggered solid walls so you can shoot down, but have cover from the bullets arrows and pine needles (rockets and parachut presents will get you still). I built it in such a manner that it is really a good idea to all stay on the central platforms to maximize the number of enemies that spawn in the kill zone. Also being near each other like that makes it so the spectre mage armor can easily heal anyone. The top layer have the two crab spawners so you have a bit of health boost whilst fighting ice queens.

I feel like i'm forgetting something, but i'll tell you in game if i see it. I should be able to make it to the event tomorrow. I'll ask my friends if they can make it too.

The map's in hardmode now. Gave the Wall o' Bacon a proper beating this afternoon. ;)

Tell me if I need to bring any healing potions or other stuff, since, unlike my map, we're now lacking a proper inventory to steal from. ;D

@ciago92: I hope it's a well aimed shot against ain ice queen!

19:00 GMT, 20:00 CET. :)

Chloro bullets are homing, so you can basically just fire around with impunity. Great way to get the ice queens that way too.
They probably go great with the new chaingun you picked up. The chaingun's accuracy is horrible, but with homing bullets you don't need accuracy. ;D
I'll bring a bunch of bullets for you along too.

I'd go gunning too, but that'd mean we most likely won't have enough healing to go around.

A pity. :( CopperCoyote didn't show up as well. Double pity!

We tried a run with two people. Went really slow. This contraption of CopperCoyote, we (Modest and I) don't know how to operate it. There are a ton of traps but they don't do anything. x)
Help!

I'll be serving again this friday, at 19:00 GMT, 20:00 CET. Hope you can all be there! :)

It was funny, because we did not know how to make this machine to work, but still we could turn on few of it's mechanisms... I felt a bit like discovering ruins of some very advanced and ancient civilisation, which technology is mostly not understanded properly by me ;) Hope to see what this pit of doom can do at friday! :)

Also Ciago, next time just kill Your boss - remember, community always first! ;) ;) ;) Or better yet - tell him to do Your work, while You defend entire world from certian christmassdoom event ;) He should understand... :D

Not really Gotcha! :) I am not so big Terraria fan :) What I have already is eoung for me :)
We can still met together from time to time just for fun and to play, but I am not aiming for any paticular loot ;)
Title: Re: terraria frost moon event

Okay. :)
In that case I am going to ask that people who are still interested in getting together to get loot to make themselves heard and set a date and time themselves.
There seemed to be an interest in doing these frostmoons, but certain people never showed up, especially the topic starter. >_> I'm not going to organize another go because only CopperCoyote, Modest and me keep showing and we're already loaded with loot.

I am always happy to join and host if needed. But only if people are really motivated. :)

Thank you, CopperCoyote and Modest, for your hard work and dedication. ;)
