Title: I'm sorry Alex.
Post by: miro on September 29, 2013, 07:59:47 PM
Hi, I would like to apologize on behalf of my fellow forum mates for being impatient about the 0.6 release.
I came to the conclusion that we had rushed you through our collective moaning, and I wanted to tell you how sorry I/we are.
This game is awesome. I spent ten dollars on it six months ago, and I've got tens of hours worth of gameplay out of it. It is fantastic. I don't think you hear this often enough. This update is huge, unprecedented, and receiving it made the wait worthwhile.

I want you to know that no matter how publicly we seem angry, we do really appreciate the hours you and your team put into this game, and we thank you for your commitment to it, and by extension, us.

Thank you for listening.

It's interesting that a week or two before the update people started moaning that the community is dying, and now bam, huge activity with the new patch. The dev team really has good reins over this project and its milestones and i'll continue to support it as long as the game keeps up the same standards of quality and the same vision. So far so good. The support given and the community interaction is top-notch as always and i really think it helps a lot on their side. Even if the whines are omnipresent in regards to new versions, that's how it will always be and it's best left ignored most times.

heh, between new update and scott manley, it's been a hectic time...

Heck, discontent is sure to brew when people grow impatient... All said, I actually think the community held up pretty well all things considering...

You did not, and no apologies are necessary. I get that it's easy to get impatient waiting for a new version, and, as I think I mentioned elsewhere, I appreciate that as a sign of people caring about the game. I don't, however, let it rush the dev process - I think that'd be irresponsible. If 0.6a has more than its fair share of bugs, it's just because there's so much stuff in it, but that's entirely on me.

That said, thank you for your support! I really do appreciate it, and I'm happy you're enjoying the new update.

You can say that again :)

Time to call it a night, I think.

I have to say that I too am sorry. I know that my first few posts might have come off as a bit, or more than a bit, whinny and bitchy but I REALLY DO love this game! It is the first space game (that wasn't an RTS or 4X) that I have seen in a long time that I have actually had fun playing! I love how everything is so easy to mod and it makes it feel like a better game! Hell, you turned a pirate into a payer with this awesome game of yours and I hope it becomes an even better game!!

This is a very valid question! I tire of all this damn waiting! >:(

Edit: I do hope people realize I was kidding here. >_>

0.61a comes first, anyway. Bugfixes and polish.

Personally I am still not convinced to support this project (read: I still disagree with release / patching policy), just fyi.

But same moment you manage to release it before star citizen you have my 20 USD, I promise.

You sure make a big deal out of your excellent opinions on business strategy and visual design.

I still say this whole situation could been avoided if there were more internal testing.

Btw last few days been playing with my mod on:
http://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=6898.0
And fun has returned. I think this whole mess can be fixed with just one hull mod(i'm not saying my way is right one thro).

Right now i'm working on new version, a lot more balance friendly.

So actually i wanted to say thx to Alex for making such a great API for his game. ;D

You sure are concealing pretty badly your piracy affair here.

Why badly? Why affair? And why do you think I am concealing it?

Err, I may be a bit daft at times, but don't you have just admitted to pirating the game? ???

@Ravendarke: I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but please PM me a proof-of-purchase. The order number + key associated with it will do. My apologies if you did preorder the game - I just want to make sure this is cleared up one way or another.

It's people like you that keep good games from reaching their potential.  By pirating the game you deprive the developers of money that could have been used to put towards more development, hiring more programmers, new features, etc.

Let's not go there. Consider that it very well could be that he's a legitimate customer, and at any rate, don't turn this thread into a flamewar. ... Eeh, I think I'd better lock this.
