Title: Stardrive is on steam.
Post by: allegretto2500 on March 10, 2013, 04:07:21 PM
A game just like this one called Stardrive is now on steam. the full game releases in a month but you can pre-order and get immediate access to the beta. More or less the game is EXACTLY like this one but with the added feature of detailed planet colonization and combat.
its also the #9 seller on steam even though its a preorder for a month from now.

It does not look exactly like Starsector. I think it's more about strategy than piloting.

I saw that game. It really did remind me of SPAZ and this game. Well, from the screenshots, i think that game seems more text based compared to this. I dont mind having other games using these concepts cos in my opinion, there arent enough of these types of space 4X games, the more the merrier. With that game selling at #9 when it entered, and SPAZ being highly successful, i think Starsector will do really well on steam. Spaz is more casual, and by the looks of it, Stardrive seems more serious, i think this game sits exactly in the middle, but its only in alpha, so who know?

Hmm, looks like a very interesting game, I'll probably get it aswell.

Also, is it wrong of me to instantly think "I need to mod this" as soon as i saw the pictures of spaceships? xP

A game just like [StarSector] called Stardrive is now on steam.

Quote from: Steam Store Page
StarDrive sets a new benchmark for the ‘4X Space Strategy’ genre.

I don't really think StarSector is a 4X strategy game. I think a more apt comparison would be Sins of a Solar Empire. However, I do love me some 4X games, so I did pick it up.

I found a really good video talking about Stardrive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6zjRD-F4P4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6zjRD-F4P4)

After watching the video, it looks abit like gratitious space battles when making ships as you have to designate engines, reactors and shields, not just weapons. Combat and operations looks really cool.

definitely not a clone of this game but the mechanics are still incredible. combat appears to be similar but its definitely not a combat sim like this game.

Can someone buy me Stardrive? In return, I'll give you steam codes for Solar 2, Beat Hazard Ultra. I'll also give you gift pases of super monday night combat, Dota 2 and a gift copy of Edge.

So you'll give 2 games you got in a bundle, 2 free games, and a copy of a game that routinely goes on sale for $2.99 for a game that costs $24.99. *sigh* its no wonder the world economy is what it is when people think they can actually get deals like this.

Nope. Not funny, if you are going to do a trade do a proper trade instead of taking the mickey.

I do apologies, but either way, you're not really supposed to trade through forums. Its not the most safe thing to do. Scammers do exist in this world unfortunately. If you're gonna trade, do it at a trading forum.

Speaking of trading, i might just set one up, for REAL trades.

A little hypocritical, no? It's true, scammers are everywhere, and trading forums are not exempt from that. I'd rather trust this forums (Simply due to me knowing pretty much everyone around here (Another case of everyone knows everyone. Heh. :P) and me trusting a few of them to the point of trading). than any random "Safe" trading forum.

Sorry for the offtopic, being on topic here,

I'm 100% sure now i'll be getting this ASAP, things is though, i have no money. :(

Oh well, time to pull some strings i'm holding. ;)

Mkay, just played it for a fair few bits (I can't really answer any of your question, gunny, haven't come that far into the game yet (haven't met an AI player so far, though), and i immediately decided to, well, mod it!

Now, my question is, well, anyone here familiar with visual basic 2008 and XNA? :D

Edit I'm going to need some help with that, since i have next to no knowledge of how to, and importing textures and models requires those two. The tuts on their pages provide less than useful info for me :(

The more Let's Plays I watch, the more I'm tempted to buy it.

What excites me most is that it appears to balance micromanagement & gameplay perfectly.

I have the game, and so far i think its really fun. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes the 4x genre. Although the UI need a bit of work, the overall game is great. If you want to know more, please ask.

On second thoughts I think I'll wait until it's been released; the beta's interface is still quite clunky, the automation is flawed, and the game lacks content.

This code gives 20% off on selected games on GMG 9including Stardrive) so if anyone wanted to pick up Stardrive but did't like the price of £25.00 use this code below:
