Title: Names of Factions
Post by: mostmodest on February 10, 2013, 01:04:29 AM
So in Ancient History class, we were talking about Ancient Greece and the Spartans' hegemony in the early Hellenic League.
Sound familiar? It turns out "Hegemony" is Greek for "leadership" and "Hegemon" means "leader". I thought this couldn't be a mere coincidence, so I researched the other names of factions, and here's what I found.
Tachyon - hypothetical particle that moves faster then light.
Luddite - A movement in the 19th century against the use of machinery involved in the industrial revolution.
Just something I thought was cool.
Keep up the good work guys.

Ship names too.
Hyperion is the greek titan of light (those lasers), and a tempest is a storm. And atlas was that titan who carried the sky on his shoulders. There are probably others, but those are the ones I know off the top of my head.

The Oddesey Capital Ship could be a reference to The Oddesey by Homer.

Paragon and Onslaught are rather self explanatory as well.
