Title: Colonized World, terrible things happened
Post by: Vivratelnica on August 22, 2019, 01:35:48 PM
So this game is probably one of the best I've played in literally ten years. I've been playing it non-stop ever since I watched Sseth's review on youtube. I'm going to continue playing this game for a long time.

I recently got to the point in the game where I felt comfortable colonizing a planet. I colonized something in the core worlds which may or may not have been a terrible idea. I got raided by pirates pretty early on, which didn't really bother me because I could fend them off.

But then I got raided by Remnants shortly thereafter, they sent like 7 fleets of drone capital ships, cruisers and strike craft. I got completely obliterated. What prompts these guys to raid you, is it random? I was really hoping to advance through this stage of the game but it looks like I've got to wait until I figure things out with Remnants.

The base game, without mods, does not include Remnant raids.

As such, for a player who's relatively new to the game, I'd suggest just bringing up console commands, typing 'kill', then hit escape, then click on the remnant fleet that's giving you troubles, then hit escape again to cancel kill mode.

I've got this mod, "Nexerelin" and the mod that goes with it, the support mod I think to make it worth. LazyLib I think it's called. I downloaded Nexerelin because I wanted to try mining early on in the game. Does anyone else have this mod and know what to do about Remnant raids? I'd feel kind of bad if I just cheated and deleted the Remnant raiders.

Oof.  Yeah, Nexerelin adds a lot more than just mining.  I do not recommend using it as a new player; it's designed to turn the game into more of an empire builder, and - in addition to things like Remnant raids - also adds a "diplomacy" system that really just translates to "random events ruin your reputation with various factions once you've made a colony".  (There is a setting in Nex' config files that lets you turn that "diplomacy" system off for the player faction, but I don't remember exactly what it's called.)

My advice remains the same, but with the added step of "Install the Console Commands mod first."

The raid itself shouldn't have catastrophic effects (-3 stability loss and one industry disrupted, at least if you fly away from the system so that it's autoresolved), so you could just walk away and let the colony recover.
The Remnants won't come back till about a year later, and they'll be far more likely to target someone else even then.

I guess I'm more so talking about the Nexerim mod that I have rather than the game itself. I did encounter the random relation flipflop when I colonized a planet... I'm not entirely sure what prompted it, but the Hegemony went from like 30+ to -50 overnight. The only thing I can think of triggering this would've been that I installed a AI core on the world for a brief period of time. I also went around the solar system and blew up all the communication relays. Does the relation status reflect on palpable events like these or is it just completely random? If it's totally random that someone ends up hating you then that seems pretty lame...
