Can those files get named their ID for internal consistency?
Same with the Chaingun and a few other things where the ID doesn't match the file (in several cases, this has been so for years, lol).
Not technically a "bug", just makes my OCD twitch, lol.

Again, please don't post things that are not bug reports in the bug reports section.
(To your suggestion, this would break save compatibility and likely some mods, so I don't think it'd be a good idea.)

I agree that if we see current inconsistencies, we should take action on them now.
Waiting longer will simply make it worse over time.
Of course, I'm sure there are other, more pressing matters, but nevertheless, if it can be fixed, I'd advocate for fixing it.

Ship and weapon IDs are not player-visible in any region of the base game (Console Commands doesn't count), so this would effectively be a polish update solely to please the aesthetic sense of a few people who think Alex, David and modders who care about making good mods, don't have enough work to do.

Agreed. Once you learn the IDs, you've learnt the IDs. And those that don't match with their in-game names are few and far between enough that you'll probably learn them fastest.
