Title: Artifacts where to find them
Post by: Zelnik on February 06, 2019, 04:25:37 AM
One very cool thing about the new release are unique pieces of technology you can find, or structures that can affect the outcome of a colony. I would love to see a quest to find a unique series of ships that are generally better then their class compatriots.

One thing I gotta ask though, PLEASE make it so cryo sleepers can either be moved to a nearby colony, or they spawn in systems that can actually be colonized (I had two games that had them spawn in completely barren systems, making them utterly useless.)

There is the Legion XIV, though that should be a Hegemony blueprint like the rest of the XIVs if only because it is probably the only good ship that can use Hammer Barrage or Cyclone Reaper well.  (Gryphon is too fragile, Astral is a carrier, and the others do not line up with main guns.)

Unique series of ships need to found (like current Legion XIV).  If their blueprints can be found, and they are superior, they will dominate player's fleet after he builds up.

I was thinking something even more special, a singular, individual ship that requires several quests and adventures to find, fix and finally pilot.

Already done, btw! They will be (if possible) spawned in at least half-decent systems.

So like IBB ships, but with quests?

I think there should be some exploration/quest only content. Not only ships but weapons, that are unique (not small stat boosts) and don't have blueprints. The addition of mass production in the newest version of the game has made it feel like everything is expendable, it would be cool if there was some some special stuff that wasn't.

I know this is a post meant as a suggestion for the base game, but just so you're aware: There are a handful of mods that do this or something very close to it. In particular I recommend checking out Dassault-Mikoyan Engineering's Blade Breakers, Legacy of Arkgneisis's Salvation Initiative, and Arsenal Expansion's Promise and IX Battlegroup.  :)

thanks! I am not a huge fan of fan-made content (I don't do mods unless they add specific functionality and UI improvements) until I am satisfied with the game itself. I think there should be a unique ship you can hunt down over the course of the game, something special for the player if he puts in the hard work for it.
