Title: DF Let's Play/Bloodline: Boldroads, thorn of the Necromancers

So, while I'm school I've been tossing this idea around in my head for sometime now. In-between both school, Work (the newspaper at the school), and the Mod i generally sacrifice grades and time with others to make time for myself. I'm surrounded by people enough in the day and work with people enough I don't want to usually hang out too long with other warm bodies!

So, as the title of this "discussion" states, this is going to be a Bloodline game for Dwarf Fortress.
This initial post will explain what the game is to those uninitiated, where to find it and where to find information on it (other than simply praying the almighty to gob of Google).

Or simply, Dwarf Fortress, could be described as something similar to sim-city, Dungeons 3, and dungeon keeper. you are tasked with only one objective with your seven starting dwarves and cart of supplies. Make a fortress. Make it big, make it small, make it layered in soap, make it run blood, make it spew magma! It's whatever you want to make it,

but make, a, fortress.

The game is often described as having a learning curve (http://dwarffortresswiki.org/images/4/40/FunComic.png) akin to a cliff. It often drives the community's motto (http://twistedspeedo.com/comics/2011-05-28-LosingIsFun.jpg) of: LOSING IS FUN!

The Wiki is very helpfull and many youtubers have done videos of varying degrees of enjoyablility on the game and how to play it, or simply a good LP.
For those that're curious I'd reccomend a LPer by the name of "Kruggsmash" guy makes some awesome stuff. For the fresh blood, curious, or simply rusty, here's a very loose overview of a running fortress.

TL:DR?
You take seven drunk midgets into a fly infested bog, wolf walked forest, zombie ridden hell hole and try to make as cool an funcitonall of a fortress as you can before Urist McMyVomitDon'tReek pulls a lever and kills everyone with !!! REDACTED !!!
Or in English:
You take 7 dwarves with supplies and carve or construct a fortress as cool an functional as you can before it all, inevitability, maybe awesomely, ends.

These are the common rules for the fortress and what players will need to do in order to participate, and some guidelines.

1.
    Do NOT intentionally brick or destroy the fortress. This will get in the fun of others who enjoy the game genuinely and want to see how far or badass this can get!
2.
    KEEP A BACK UP OF THE SAVE. If you pass the save to the next player in line and things go belly up- they can't continue, they don't want to, etc etc -we will revert to the earliest save. If you simply don't keep a back-up, then we're SOL. At least keep your save safe till the THIRD player get's the save.
3.
    Do NOT try to force crap to happen. Sometimes you just get a quiet year. enjoy it. Make something fun. Make a colorfull dance-floor!
4.
    All turns will be the go-to of ONE, in-game YEAR. You may continue to play after your turn with a seprate file if you'd like; Or go on an Adventure to see more detail about the fortress and what can be glimpsed in Legends mode.
5.
    Do NOT derail or spam the thread. This will avoid bloat and if a Player posts his turn in segments, rather than a massive post. This makes it easier for other players and readers to enjoy.
6.
    Do NOT use a modded version of the game to play- Masterwork or MLF: Fortress is Magic What?... -we are going to play Vanilla for the first go through.
7.
    Follow the general rules of the forum.
8.
   Since this is the FIRST Bloodline game that I'm aware of on the forums, there are going to be NO gameplay restrictions or goals. Unless ideas are majority approved (I get tons of people saying "X had a uristing awesome idea!!!") they will not be implimented. Likewise, goals/restrictions will NOT be enforced if a Game has NOT started with the Goals/restrictions to begin with.

Some general guidelines

Use EXPERIMENTAL LazyNewbPack, unless you are VERY confident of yourself in the game and how it's file-systems work. This application REALLY has helped many people get into the game that normally wouldn't! (NOTE: this (http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=13201) requires Python (https://www.python.org/) to run.)

Inform us, describe WHAT and WHO and WHERE! This style of play is partly a story-telling exercise. You don't need to have something big like some of the posters in Boatmurdered or other Bloodline games, but do at least give us an idea of what's going on. EVEN IF YOU'RE USING A GRAPHIC PACK.

Use the wiki, we're not watching you play, we're waiting for your report of time/happenings in the fortress for your year!

Try to post something within at most a week, again you don't have to post things all at once. Make posts as things happen if you want or put something together.  (edited 10-27-2017)
IF WE DO NOT GET IN TOUCH, YOU HAVE A 2 WEEK GRACE TO INFORM THE THREAD IF THINGS HAVE HAPPENED.
After the 2-week grace period your turn will be revoked and the last save will go to the next player in line.
That DOES NOT mean you can't play again, it just means you've to wait till your turn comes up in the line-up.

When you turn the game over to the next player. Consider reverting the game's graphics to use the default ASCII set, that way the next player can simply install THEIR preferred graphics. Not required but can help other players for sure! :)


Have fun!
But keep names and other things family friendly- as friendly as decapitation can be. Besides, no one needs to see crass names like well. Like some cringey teen goth in a closet trying to rebel by cussing like a sailor.

On the point of fun, if you feel insprised to make something about the fortress- a comic, doodle, etc -post it! Keep it to recent and relevant posts by the way!

Look to some of the older Bloodlines if you're unsure what to do.

250 early-spring, Unknown date:

Some weeks of wandering the hills and badlands to the south I've made some good progress for some group of dwarves calling themselves "The Vault of Twinkles". They came from my cousins from the north led by some Catman. Strangely he didn't stink like half the cats I met. Still creepy as Murfs though with that face. Lurth above... I have nightmares about that thing sometimes now.
Whining about their odd choice in leader ship aside, they gave me a deal of silver and told me they were looking to make it rich out on there own and wanted somewhere nice,somewhere pleasant.
Well, after walking in these "Riddled Hills" I found some place by the shoreline, sure it looks dangerous. All sorts of things really, even met some heyna men down there, but. After taking care of them and a rather obnoxious yeti

I think they'll be fine. Besides, the Catman knew a good deal about rocks! Suppose it comes from the fact he was apparently raised by dwarfs rather than some soft tall hummie or even worse, an Elf~! Goblins would've skinned him for his pelt.

250 early-spring, unknown:

Took a bit more of a look at some spots by the shore, even swam down into the sea! "OH Urist, don't bother reading tha', yur' too dum!" "Oh Urist, dwarfs don' need'a learn to swim, wha' the worry for?" Well wouldn't you know it came in handy! I swam down into the deep and with my nose full of water was able to follow the scent of iron in the water to a wall of liminate! While I'm sure the rest of the area might have an Aquifer that the group'll have to deal with, they have Iron, and if they're carefull, the Shale on the shore should let them get-by the aquifer with no issues at all~!

Took longer than we thought to get here. Then again we got Urist's letter about where to go and how to get there 3 weeks out when he ACTUALLY got it. So, that certainly didn't help. Anyway, I've gotten Titmouse and Jay2Jay working on striking into the shale to find some good stone to build out our fortress. If anything we'll need to build a top-side wearhouse to act as a temporary storage or something. not sure really. Least the local funua isn't auh... Too dangerous.

250-02-10 mid-day (?):
Hey! We struck Limonite not too far down! Sweet, we can get to making Iron, maybe even some steel if we can find some marble or chalk, or get some from the traders.

Gelena! Not much use for anything but the silver it could bring. Maybe some barrles... Chains? There's a good bit you can do with lead but, I think it'd be best to use it as training for black-smiths.

WE'VE STRUCK GOLD IN THE STORAGE ROOM I HAD PLANNED! WOOOO!!! Gold, murfing GOLD MAN! YEAH! We'll need to get the Furnace-room set up at some point, never know what'll be coming to get that stuff when word gets out.

250-03-15:
Well, after dealing with vomiting dwarves up at the mountain homes. I spoke with the doctor before we left and found it was something called "Cave Adaption". HOnestly I'd rather not have Viymese vomiting over Titmouse or Axel while we're sharing a dorm at the moment or when migrants inevitably come. The plan I have in mind is to have grates for floors and dwarves are able to pass through these grates to get to other rooms, always seeing the light, always feeling the wind so they don't become some vomiting smegol-things!

Well, I had Jay2Jay dig down into the earth for the Aquifer... Seems it was a single layer of rock becuase before Jay was forced out from the water- or be drowned! -he saw chalk! Which also means STEEL! Hahaha! Ah... But, unfortunately with how Aquifers work... I think I'd rather try to find a second layer of Chalk... Or just try to find some more stuff deeper down.
Speaking of light stone, we found Mica when we dug down! Great stuff for making light stone items. Not very good against fires and so on though.

250-4-01:

Ah, summer... Good gods murfs it's hot! It is hot, hot, hot! The only good thing is that th' ocean helps cool us off! Though, I certainly need to start the farms and get some of the pools here pumped to make some viable source of water.

250-4-13:

Well, we've got only two people. That is just fine by me. We don't have any rooms and very little to well, yeah. So, I'm not sure if we want to keep in the stone as we are but... So far, so good. If we want to get at the iron I think we'll need to work on getting a quarry through the Aquifer... Maybe even seal off part of the ocean with magma pumps or something. Tartilfette has been pretty good as a cook an all around is surprisingly knowledgeable.

We've seen a good few things, found some marble deep in the earth and some bumble bees! Maybe would could make some mead.

As far as the status of the fortress goes. We' ve gotten a dining room going, a Dorm and we're setting up a room for out appraiser Titmouse for when the Trade caravan's come in at the fall.

250-07-01:
Well, Fall's come and I'll be damned its' finally not so hot! I can actually go up and enjoy the sun! Speaking of the sun, I've gone and put my plan into motion! I've made a series of grates at the very top of the fortress. I made the grates out of Microline! SO MURFING BLUE! I love the color! I've also begun to work on my own room. I'm the overseer, why the hell not?

I asked titmouse to go try an find some more ore. We also found out how far- more or less -the aquifer stretched. I walled it off with some of that Microline we had before. Should be obvious why. Avoid Urist mcpunch-drunk from mining it out and drowning us all! Though I think such a device would be great for a drowning chamber... We are near and ocean after all... Hmm.

A goblin, liaison... a GOBLIN. How in Komut did they choose a goblin back at the Tattooed Ship of all things! We've been killing the green bastards and have Snow-goblins up in the northern boarder! What, did the queen get black-mailed for oogling elf butt or something?!
WHY IS IT A GOBLIN!? ... I'm half tempted to kill him.
07-18:
I think better of it and have Tit-mouse go up to the depot to trade off what little goods Viymese and Wunder have been putting together to pass the time.

We've struck a good bit of Iron... Honestly I'm very happy with Urist McGregor's work! We'll need to see about getting him here sometime to give him a silver Mace or something... Maybe a masterwork Steel Axe if I get good enough!... When we actually make the damn forges!

250-09-04:
Good Kumot... I'm glad to be busy under the earth, I barely heard the elephants over the hills up north! If they weren't as thick as a High-wood trunk and we had an actual military I'd be telling the guys we'd be getting fresh meat! But... I'd rather not have something akin to the myths of old happen here.

Otherwise the Forges are up and by the time my rule as overseer is passed over to someone else well, I hope to be making some armor for the dwarfs and some good weapons actually... By the way, the lever in the Dining room will raise the bridges effectively locking us in and goblins out if we're attacked. I don't expect the forges to be as they are, I think they'll be moved at some point but, for now. We've our anvils set up! Time for me to set some ores up to be smelted.

250-09-15, mid-Autumn:
Kumot's wrath we've hit an Aquifer wall again... The stone held firm but... if we mine the spot above it, we'll have to contend with water. And with how our fortress is set up, that'd again be a death sentence.

250-10-06, Winter:
Well, my rule was fairly short, I lost a whole month and a half! But... I won't twist the rules and extent my stay in the postion like some aluminum-loving noble rooster-monger.
Here's the fortress at the start of Winter. The grates are for dwarfs to walk across and get a bit of sun.The way the earth works it also helps with keeping us cool and fairly warm. The constant air-flow is really helpful! Especially when Viymese decides to enjoy Raw plump helmets for breakfast, brunch,lunch and dinner! Masterworks or not, your farts stink woman!

Hey, we've got tin too! Murfs Urist McGergor! If I ever meet him again I am going to hug him till it hurts! He's given us the spot most dream of getting! Iron, Copper, gold, tin, All sorts of jewels! This shall be the envy of the north! The grand Jewel of the south! HAHAHA!

After mining so much, I've come to the conclusion that we've setteled on a lava flow of sorts... There is so much Mica! Mica is a metapmorphic stone and is rather pretty. Otherwise it's useless... Good for crafting though.

Well it's a month till my time is over. I've decided to start some bronzeworks adn maybe we could have some fun with bronze satutes... Who knows. Otherwise I'm thinking of gettin back into my craft by making iron swords for a militla later down the line to use in the event of an invasion!

Right, that's it!

Going to start continuing this as a fortress for anyone to make suggestions. Those that make a suggestion will be dwarfed.
If anyone wants to get in and play for a year an then let me play from that or start the blood-line lemme' know~! :)

I am reading the topic and I'm familiar with the game (that Minecraft monument I posted one time was first conceived and built when DF got z-levels) but my computer doesn't handle it these days which is why I haven't taken a turn.  Catmen and goblin liasons huh, DF has sure changed since I played it last.

well the Fort is in it's early stages so it's CPU light ATM. So, you'd likely be able to run it if you want to give RiddleBells a go.
Also, I have NO idea about the Goblin Liasion... Seriously... Maybe they kidnapped a goblin or a goblin slave attoned for it's blood-sins or something. As for the Catmen, well. no secret, I'm a furry so. That's more of a joke really. :P

EDIT:: The save files ARE NOT BROKEN IT SEEMS SO I COULD USE THE NEWEST EDITION OF DF!!! WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!
Also, happy Turkey-day for people in the USA. :)

Welp, I'm the permanent overseer I suppose now... No one wants the position and no one has been making any sort of requests so... I'm going to be taking to it permanently. So, first plan I had in mind was starting to train our Metelson an furnace dwarves and making sure our miners don't get cave adapted. Seriously, I don't want all the dwarves vomiting over themselves! God the smell of some of the cave-adapted dwarves was horrendous!

Holy crap... how much GOLD is there?! This is like the fifth uristing vain of the crap!!! It's good for trade but urist-all else, Silver can be made to maces! I mean... COME ON!!!
Otherwise I tested the "Defenses" (read: Lock ourselves in till the baddies go away) and it was a success!

Well, Wunder- who is now going to be called the Wonderous Wandering Wacker as a profession -is going to be our military man! He came at me demanding to be placed in a squad an so, I thought, why not have everyone train in the winter? Nothing happens much, not traders and I honestly don't need people dying, so. Why not train ourselves a bit? He got to choose what we do so, he wanted Axes and Axes is what we'll have. Since I want to save our Iron for better weapons and Armor I'll get some Bronze Axes up for ourselves at least.
Avantinia was egear to join up as well, so, when we can get some better bodies I'll put'em into the military full-time.

Okay well, everyone seems to have gotten inside and we're safe... aum, save for one. The wood-cutter. The poor sod is squealing like a pig or somehting I don't even know. I... I think I hear a shoe. Remember how I talked about the dining room? Well, It's good off without a hitch and now I'm planning to get the rooms for the Fooddwarfs and then some made up, that way they can easily go to work, back from work and fall asleep tot he smell of their own hand made delights!

Ah well, I've gotten a warehouse set up, The bricks we've been making can stay in the workshops- they just take up useless space... -and now we should have a good few bins in there and able to store all the good stuff deep for it to be save and the rest, not so deep so it's easy to get to for traders or otherwise! Happy Holiday's folks and yes, This game is still going! I've been busy and have a mod to work on (among other things) so DF has been on the back burner for a while. Now that I've time and actually planned for this, I'll update this with year 3, again, if anyone wants to be the next Overseer let me know.

Well, with the new-year celebrations cleaned up and the winter solcitce finally being put to bed. I think it's high-time I work on a more... defendable fortress. We've made a metal industry, we've dwarves that're busy and I'm pretty sure we'll be getting a wave of immigrants at some-point hoping to be in Riddlebells Jewels of the South.

To that end I've decided on working on a murder-hall/ Flood Room. There's a few ways this could be done... I'm also thinking of having the murder-hall seprate, but, we may need the military for the harder creatures of the underground. . . Well, looking through the survey and doing some experimental digging I've decided to go with a murder-hall that has an emergancy Flushing-System.  I'll set the murder-hall up first, as that's going to be more important. If we can't defend ourselves? I have a few ideas about what to do regarding that... Well, Tartiflette was tired of people complaining about not having the right cheese, or not having cheese on hand for the meals! So, he took a dwarf- Moses Lucas -and had him put to cheese duty. Why moses? Well, as far as I know I think Moses owes Tartiflette or something invovling Elves. Not sure. Not my circus, not my monkey.
Either way, I gave'im a shop to use up at the Farm-level, might even make him a Hobbit-hole to live in.

Other than that, I've been working on squares for bedroom an been thinking about a grand memoriam for the dead to be placed. I've started work on some small memoriam's that the eventual dead could be placed, but. I think a larger one would be best. Perhaps even some silver an gold Sarcohpigi for the Wackers n' Purprle ludds with their own halls and temples to the patron gods of their squad.

It's a dwarf by the name of Kogan Logemkulal, he was one of the many dwarves that had fought the beast. I’ve come to the comely little fortress in search of my adopted brother, the catman known as Azmond, and as a human have found my presence to be… Tolerated at best.

However, it seems that they trust me enough that I’m allowed to stay and make myself useful. I think I shall start Smoothing the pathways of the living quarters and making the place look a little more polished. It’ll be hard work, but I think that can be done…

I’ve heard the others talk of making a large storage area for the Smithers to have their ore near-by, but we’ll see what happens… The place is more akin to a colony of ants that talk rather than a Monarchy that the dwarves normally practice in their Moutainhomes…

Year 253-02-06

A horrid smell wafts across the land as dwarves come running into the fortress, “The goblins are here, they’re here!”

A VILE FORCE OF DARKNESS APPROACHES!

The Force was massive, and the stank of unwashed goblin, beak dog, and troll gagged those who didn’t have the stomach for it. I wretched as I looked upon them form the fortress ramparts… “Aye… Th’y ‘ere…”

The dwarves too far out were shut out of the fortress, swarmed and mutilated in short order. Our traps worked and the murderpit performed, the thing is full of the horde as they try to get within the fortress. Creatures are caged in traps meant for the local fauna, and after a few days or weeks... I can't recall...

Nothing. They died in the murder pit, the weremoose driven to transform at the scent of blood...



That's honestly all that's been recorded since then...

The month after, I've gotten a tavern steup in the surface of the fortress reserved for the normies, I've started a number of massive Smoothing and Mining Projects, and I've started work on a Library...


My time as Over-Dwarf of Nokgolrith has been short and full of activity, but I feel that my time is best spent doing my work in the forges. There was also a dwarf who was hit with a mysterious mood, but nothing of great note came of it... Just a Cross-bow club combo, nothing more...

Well, Dewey found me- surprisingly the fellow is still on stils and thinks I'm his brother -and it's nice to have him! He was a good break, and did pretty well. I didn't have to give him too much help, aum, save fro the siege. after that though, the bugger didn't do very well so I took over for him part way through the year. Seeing what he has been doing I think he was doing pretty well if a bit, overboard. Particularly with running the mining operations, still, he did very well for what it was! Well, the traders are off. they kept asking for an artifact! Oh HELL no were we going to let them have Yoshi's crossbow! The ursiting fellow hasn't even gotten to shoot it yet! I gave them double their profits adn sent them off or, rather I let them get back to chatting up.

The Ursiting flocker killed  Starschulz and finally after several deaths (and then some) the military waddled up from the doors. After this, the journal shows only minor entries of the fortress and basic upkeep for the next few months as things are put together for Abyz to serach for wunder's corpse. In the book are several designs that will be considered later... The journal is left un-touched for some while.

Due to a bug- or my incompetentce -or something else entirely the fortress is flooded. The back up saves are broken and so the fortress in the fourm game is now null. . .
Spent the better part of the hour in the Kanta's den in discord trying to figure the urist out WHY and HOW and coming to only a few straws to grasp at.
So... Yeah.
New world, new fort.  One without a Ursiting Aquifer-layer that suddenly re-Ursting-activates!
As optimistc an loopy as I am generally. This was painfull and frustating. Losing is fun, but only when it's something you did within the game. Not from  a sudden change in the rules.
No aquifers and suddenly Several ursting dozen of them.

There'll be a new world and I'll take a few votes here and the Discord about what to do. I'll release Metelson's shortly after.

I was traded off to the dwarves of Teacheredwheels. A trading town it seemed. The elves didn' last long and I was given a home an a job. One of the crazy-cat-ladies convinced them to lemme stay-on rather than be butchered or gelded. Instead, I was put on as an apprentice smith, something I excelled in strangely. So, we were sent down south into enemy territory to watch the western-peaks of The Eternal Mountain range by the Tempted Plains and Untamed Hills.

Netllab is getting the bridge done... Finally. time to get working on that an then some of the other features of the fortress. The pit has begun to be smoothed out as well and I really have to wonder what we'll be doing with the elves that get stuck in that pit... ... We're also going to need to work on getting some wooden-spikes on the bottom of it or for traps. Maybe use their own weapons against them, hehehe. Augh... At the moment I need more coal.

Ended up fighting some damn monkeys... it wasn't very pleasent. The damn things got me pretty good in the teeth a few times. We'll have to start sheering the sheep for some wool. I'll make a few more bits of armomr for the dwarves and make some metal spears for a defense training force of sorts later down the line. I've lost track of time... we lost cums, abyz and a whole lot of other good dwarves to that damned beast. We were able to kill the wretch though, and vengeance was ours. Avantaia had been bitten, an while I wished they had lived, I'm glad they didn't suffer long. The beast bent them into a preztal before running off... I've asked wiki-fish to find a tunnle and we've started work on getting into the water down below the surface.

Hopefully no-one dies while we dig a proper hospital for them.

Welp, we've hit another cavern, this one was closer... the only way I can think to help deal with it is to get into it and seal it up so we can make a functioning hospital. This'll take a bit of consideration.

The hatches to the south which are those gray blocks with a "Cent" sign lead down to the murder-hall which leads to the murder-pit.Eventually there'll be more *** here, at the moment it's a hospital, some storage, and the start of the murder-pit. as well as a tomb I have to aum, empty, as I'd rather not have Fantastic Chimni rotting there forever.

The murder pit itself is a series of blocks that'll have elves go over traps an then hopefully fall off into a pit where they will then starve to death or die trying to climb out. Because *** the elves.
If they don't die being speared on wood spikes on first way down.

Two months have gone by, I took up drawing a while ago... It's quiet theraputic, I think that's the word the Medical-dwarf came up... He heard it from one of the foreigners.

Therapy would probably be good for a few other people as well but, the idea isn't taking too well for some. We've been dealing with the aftermath of the were-lizard and three people were infected.

The fellow goes by the name of Chroma in the holds. Very quiet and doesn't seem to have any friends... still, he's down there now with a spear and enough armor to do his job, nothing more, nothing less.

Day's have continued to pass and people are still rattled but, nothing bad so far has happened, so that's good... We've begun to set up the tombs for those killed by Counting Conch and we've begun to work on getting the catacombs started.  We've also found some more dwarves that were killed by the Magical Counting Conch.

it's not a very good situation but, with the new year comes new growth.

Heres the end of the fortress as it stands with several dwarves now in tombs- or going to be -and I'll be working on getting the murder-hall put together at some point with either a seige-engine battery or just a bunch of spikes going up n' down on random plates and bridges retracting randomly as well.

Either way, this is all sort of what it is being what it is.

I got myself with a hammer today, the thumb is a bit purple but, otherwise doing' allright.. Oh, an the screamer finally stopped. he got everything he needed and stopped speaking tongues. Now he's huffing like a mad-man on cave-gas.

We're starting work on some of the outer defenses a bit more, as well as a possible tower to catch the ambushing elves before they get too close to the fortress. part of hte plan is to breed many dogs and have a single dog out in the feilds trained as a hunting dog. They'll sniff the blood of elves and die in the process of finding them I'm sure but, it'll be a warning and worth-while at that.

Some 20 of them came around... we also put away many of the ghouls that had come up from the fortress. Likewise we need to get a few tombs going for the more noble of the dwarves in our populace. Like our mayor for instance... and me of course.

253-02-24:

We've gotten the bottom of the guard-tower set up, now time to set upa smaller... I'd say... outpost? It's not really an outpost, but, a room, dinning room and a few niceties are set up for a small squad to live under the tower.

Likewise, I've begun to work on the jail and the Training Barracks fot the new squad: The Dickerson Punchers
they'll take in some civilians for a year and then send'em off, but, I think for now I need to get'em set-up to help hold down the elves when they finally come.

We got a good show today from the Luiddic Launchers. A few of the giant sparrows were getting into our feilds at the front of the fortress. It's was great fun watching the feathered bastards fall from the sky.

In hind-sight... maybe making a bunch of bloody pools wasn't a good idea... oh dear gods a beast screamed and we've caught sight of a black were-lizard ragging towards the fortress! They're thick and killed a marksdwarf, but the dead marksdwarf set the bastard up to fail...

Meme's been bitten... as well as several others... The burrow should've been called... People should've come in... but... nothing was heard.... I've talked the guys into making a southern-tower for scouting, if nothing else and put a dog in it as a distraction or something.

So, we've gotten most of the injured dwarves in the pit... I don't know of Chorma will survive having his riegn challanged or not, but, it shouldn't matter in the least. I hope that when all is said and done... Well, the dwarves in the pit go quickly and painlessly, or survive to kill the goblins and elves that will eventually come.

Some good news though, the human caravan's arrived! So we can get some more stuff to make metal flaskes an all sort's a things, that's for sure.  In the mean time, time to start work on submitting some stuff to the depot.

I really hope this day ends... I've been hearing the squeals of nothing but more and more damned were-lizards and I'm lucky I'm not dead... a few of the dwarves couldn't, or didn't make it to the pit as ordered... saddly, we've had to kill them because of it and several more were infected.

A few monster-slayers have been killed as well as other dwarves... Thankfully no-one has had the misfortune to die so far... but, it seems one human by the name of Ramul decided to go take care of our "Monsters"... It'll be fun to watch at least.

Well, a dorf went fey (and in short order begun work on something) and we've been working on getting a statue graden going for the dwarves to enjoy... I've also begun to work on tryiung to get the aum, the death-trap, dealt with... though, it's likely going to kill a few bastards along the way sadly.

A small squad from the Leap of Treasures, the tree-huggers, came today.... They weren't long for this world and none of them made it to the edge of our territory... Saddly, that means that they know where we are now... There's no going back.

Out of the four please choose from the straw poll which two or which one you would like to see in the next form game.  I want to use the newer version of Dwarf Fortress and I tried using the new version on the own Fortress 2 minor success however it crashed. This has wondered to save pretty much broken.

So as some of you may know, or many of you may guess from the title alone among the fact that I've posted a poll, the current game of dwarf Fortress is null n' void.  The plan for the fortress was to lemming everyone at the elven capital, however, that didn't go to plan.  Saddly for me the game crashed and i lost all that work I had put into a "Finale" and I'll be made into a troll's toy if I were to do ALL of that over again...

To explain fully:

The fortress was going to turn every single unneeded dwarf into a military dwarf armed with at the very least, spears, a helm of iron, a mail shirt and bone armor. Others were made into Pickdwarves. From there we were going to seige every forest home one by one till all of them had begun to burn or till we died in an onslaught of elven hoards that came in reply.

During the first attack on the capital, the game had crashed, and all the dwarves that I had trained up into near legendry status had gone, every peice of armomr, gone, every stinking damn thing i had done. Gone.

So, rather than waste time, I threw that strawpoll above this post together.

In short, most people wanted to see the elves die again, but, this time it wouldn't be the dwarves defending themselves, oh no, no no. We'd be aiming to erradicate a large portion of elves. So, that'll be the new plan, to raze, pillage, and occupy the eleven territories and render them helpless an hapless to the might of dwarven steel or copper bolts!

Here in the Cyclopean Realm, years have passed, the world has been made, and in the year of Armok, of his prophecy of Metelson. The Dwarves sent out groups to find sanctuary from the necromancers, and this is the tale of one of those groups.

The  Cyclopean Realm is a world of many things. Of those things the dwarves linger but are far from the mighty civilization they once were. The erosion of Goblins, the pains of Elves…
All those things have turned the Tame rag from a fierce force of reckoning. To a dwindled tribe of troglodyte bait. Seeking refuge and with the legends of a land untouched by goblin filth,  the dwarves made a last effort to make landfall on the island. Several groups tried and all of them failed. Soon, the dwarves came to the coast of the foreign lands. Of the dwarves that came they also brought a cat-man by the name of Azmond with them. He is the general overseer of the fortress. Helping to lead and herd the dwarves these entires are the journal of Azmond Zonaban, or Azmond Helmconstruct.

15 of Granite the year of 250:

Well, we’ve survived, my fur is soaked and I’m shivering in the wagon at the moment… Oh well. It is what it is and I’m alive.  Well, here’s a list of who’s left: Goldeye, a miner, Stonemother another miner, Patenince our woodworker, Koala our “leader”, Nighty our Mason, Steel Seeker the farmer, and Ironwills, last but not least.

I’ve ordered the guys to start digging while the leader starts looking around for some plants with a few of the others and Patience goes on to chop some wood down.

A Week has passed:
Ho-ho! We’ve silver now! And we’ve been hitting quite a bit of tetrahedrite and some Galena as well… Not much, I was hoping for more, still ,we’ve not dug too deep. We haven’t hit the caverns either.

So here is the fortress as it stands. We’ve gotten a small starting area put together. The dwarves of old had massive underground cities… and I think that is going to be the goal of our little outpost, out Boldroads a beacon of the Dwarves! To become a Mountain Hall, a home of the deep for the dwarves of the deep! A Sanctuary for the weary and lost!

Or a resort, dunno.


14th of Felsite of the year 250:

We’ve hit the magma sea!… I’ll be damned. Welp, time to set up shop and get a few things going… I think one of the first things we’re going to get going is the Forges as well as the Fortress proper. But, I want to find one of the caverns, as least ONE of them first, and given that there was what seemed to be a tube leading from the magma sea, I think we can find them near the sea… So I’ve started a few exploratory veins which haven’t gotten anything going at the moment.
Some time later:
Ooh hoo, I heard the shouts of joy coming up from the ramps… That’s a good sign, I think… auh, dunno. Either way, we found the caverns boy’os! We got a place to live now!… and I’ll be damned if we don’t try to do it.  Honestly I think if I really wanted to, I could get a deep shaft of sun-light to be down here… Eh, I’ll work on that later. For now? Time to get to work on the fortress proper then I suppose, or at least plan it out somehow.

2nd of Hematite, 250:
The Dwarves are going through the rock steadily to make the first cuts, though I want to see more of the cavern for planning out things we’ll need to get some doors going and I plan on essentially making a small up-top fortification in cause that wasn’t clear… We don’t need to have everyone being able to just watlz in, even if we’re on some dingy little island.

24th of Hematite, Year of Armok 250:

5th of Limestone, of 250 year of Armok:
ZOMBIES AT THE FRONT GATES! I saw them I swea- I…Not even an hour later
They left… They just up an left! We need to get deep, deep now! Seal up the fortress and set a guard animal or 3 set up on top! We don’t need to be up here any longer than needed, we’ve gotten magma and we’ve found the cavenrs for wood! We need not be up more than needed!
With the dead we… we need to get somewhere safe! That’s why we had left the mainland! We were trying to be free of the nercomancers! To avoid their blight! But I suppose a zombie doesn’t care about the sea does it!?
23rd of Limestone, of 250 year of Armok:

Right, so almost a month after that auh, discovery, we’ve begun to dig a shaft to supply the forges quickly with ores from the top of the shaft… I’ll need to set up a traffic zone for the dwarves not to get into the path of the falling rocks as they’re dumped down. My plan- if it works, is to have a series of Minecarts on axles with some wooden “springs” dumb the rocks down safely into a pile for the smelters to pick up the stone easily.

We’ve struck Magnetite! This is an ore of iron and it is MASSIVE! We’ve iron for days now and from this single patch, ohhohoh. We can make some LOVELY things!

Some time passes. Mines are made, plans are laid. This is the first year of the bold roads. The first year of the dwarves new home on the island (peninsula?) of  The Land of Roughness in the Hills of  Wilt. They have been seen by an evil on the island (No, yeah it’s a peninsula… Oops). With the arrival of the dwarves on the far edge. They had hope to soon make the island (peninsula!!!) a haven from the necrotic machinations of the world! Sadly, the Dwarves and their brave cat-man now have been found. What will they do?

We’ve gotten the Fortress basically locked down and set up for further development down below. So what IS the plan? I’m… still thinking about what the really is. At the moment, the goal is to get the dwarves set up as “Deep” Dwarves.  And Making a zombie “Playground” … I’ll make a proof of concept I think…  I dunno, gonna’ have to think about what I want to do with that, as there are a few things I could do.
